After getting hitched on the river in Gruene, TX we thought, what better way to relax than to take a 24 hour flight itinerary to the opposite side of the planet. See ya, credit card bills!!! We'll do our best to provide the vital info as we go about best practices to make the most of your time, and maybe not your money, since we're only in Vietnam for just over 2 weeks.

Nick, Alain & Friends
Nick, Alain and friends are driving overland through Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana and Namibia. This blog is aimed at younger family members in the group to keep an eye on us as we travel.

I am a Masters in Nutrition from Lady Irwin but a teacher of English by profession and now I run a Senior Secondary School of my own. I am also an author and have ten published books to my credit on Spoken English and Grammar for students and keen adult learners. Some contradictions in life have made it interesting and I have enjoyed this journey for 64 years now. A keen traveller, I travelled with my husband,through India while he served the nation as an army officer, Now after retirement, he is my partner in running the school and travelling overseas lands. We started travelling late in life but since 2005 we have travelled every year to a new destination. Each year we travel for a month plus and discover a part of the world. Starting with ???, we travelled through ??, ?????? ?????, ????? ?????? , ?????, ??????, ??????, ?????, ?????????, ?????????, ??? ???????, ??????, ?????, ????? ???????, ????????, ????, ??????, ?????????, ??????, ??????????, ??????, ????????, ??????, ??????? ????? ????????, ??????????, ???????, ???????, ??????, ???????, ???????????, ???????, ???????????, ?????, ?????????? ,??????? ???????????? ????????? ?? ?????, ??????, ??? ????? - Exploring and educating ourselves. We do not believe in guided or group tours and prefer to read about countries and go well informed with guides and translation apps so that we can experience the joy of discovery. We take public transport as far as possible to get the local feel and prefer Homestays,BNB or aparthotels. I write the day's experience on FB with pictures, without fail so that memories do not dim or get blurred with time. Recently I have taken to writing a travel Blog though for pictures I refer to the FB pictures. This year when COVID ruined our travel plans, I travelled virtually, as per our plan for 40 days and enjoyed it almost as much! There was enough in my memories od travel of 15 years and the homework done in the preceding 6 months to make it real not only for the readers but also for me!
