HEllo from a very sunny KOh Pangan, We arrived 2 days ago with a hellish all day journey starting at 8 am a tiny speed boat then an old dodgy mini bus, a slightly younger mini bus, (then a three hour wait in the absolute middle of now where)a coach then a ferry then a truck we arrived! Staying at a very nice and very cheap hostel/hotel 4 pounds a night for the room! Nice and clean a very nice pool. The weather has finally picked up have spent the last two days sun bathing and swimming and not alot else! We're here for 5 nights our final night being the half moon party which is a big party on the beach with lots of neon paint. From here on to Koh tao which is suppose ... read more

We broke up our journey from Koh Phagnan to Koh Phi-Phi by spending a night in Krabi. Our hostel was lovely, really modern and clean...but we soon discovered there was nothing to do in Krabi! We went to a small food market- we bought some pineapple which they had covered in chilli salt (ew!) We explored a bit and met some sweet people who owned shops nearby (also some not too sweet people who definitely did not appreciate us visiting their town!) but anyway...we chilled at the hostel for the afternoon and watched films in the communal area. We had dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant. The restaurant was also the family living/dining room! There was a child on the table next to us attempting to do his homework, with his papers, books etc all spread ... read more

We spent just over a week at the islands to the East of Surat Thani. We started with the biggest...Koh Samui. As we anticipated for Thailand's second largest island, it was very touristy. There were lots of souvineer and clothes shops, as well as lots of restaurants and bars. We stayed in a hostel at one end of the strip; we walked past all the busy restaurants and shops to get to the beach. We had a few cocktails over the 3 days, whilst overlooking the view. There was a street bar that was set up every evening so we often went there before dinner. They played hilariously old-catchy music (Shakira!! Alanis Morisette!! etc!) and gave us free peanuts! On our last evening we went to a night market which was just off the main strip. ... read more

Koh phangnan Firstly, we just want to say that we are writing these blogs as our sort of diary of our trip, so apologies if some of it is a bit dull but we wanted to keep a record of all that we have done so that we can look back at the great times we have had! We hope you enjoy reading it though. We have now also uploaded pictures from the Thailand islands, so take a look if ya wanna! We took the boat (what else) from Koh Samui across the gorgeous gulf of Thailand to Koh phangnan which is home to the Full Moon Party held once a month. Sadly, our timings meant that we were to miss this but I think it's fair to say that we have both partied hard enough ... read more

Oef! We konden dus veilig de grens over en hadden 90 dagen tijd om het land te bezoeken. Als je over land gaat krijg je slechts een visum van 15 dagen om het land te bezichtigen. Als je vliegt: 30 dagen. Als ... read more

Koh Phi Phi Upon arrival at Koh phi phi (pp) we noticed just how divine the Indian ocean was - azure blue, emerald and crystal clear warmth. Yum. We weren't sure were to stay so trace suggested Rantee Bay which was quiet and lovely and away from the magaluf feel of the town centre (a posher magaluf mind you). We arrived at Rantee bay and got shown our shack by the sea (Runtee bay sunset resort - resort a loosely described word here!) - it was just that, a shack. We both thought that it was a little under what we could cope with but we would cope, that was until Tash lifted up the mattress cover to find a swarm of ants all over and in the bed... That was it - luxuries we can ... read more

Koh Samui We arrived late afternoon after an epic journey. We entertained ourselves by watching downton abbey which we had downloaded on the iPad (a godsend on long journeys I tell you). Why the hell hadn't anyone told us how brilliant this series was?! We loved it and started imagining what we would be like if either of us owned a country pile... We did our usual thing of turning up and not having any idea of where to stay (adds to the adventure of it all) so we got a cab to take us to chewang noi, north of the party beach and a little quieter. We asked around and it was relatively expensive for Thailand so trace decided to leave Tash at a bar and go hunt herself rather than have us both lugging ... read more

Thailand - Krabbi and the island of Koh Lanta Upon landing we found our way through buses and boats to the lovely island of Koh Lanta. Trace had been here before, pre tsunami, and had lovely memories of the place. When we got to the island we discovered that it had been raining for the last few days but we were lucky - nothing but gorgeous sunshine. It was also Green season, their low season so we knew it wouldn't be too busy. With that though came the realization that a lot of hotels were closed!!! We got dropped off and picked up a tuk tuk to take us to a nice place.. Now imagine, two girls, two big back packs and two smaller day packs crammed into a space no bigger than a toilet.. Hello everyone! We are into our 3rd week of travelling and have just crossed the Malay-Thai border. We are currently based in Hat Yai for the night before an early start tomorrow when we will be travelling to Ko Lipe. Since the Cameron Highlands we haven't really travelled very far, spending the last 10 days on the Perhintian Islands. This is a pair of Islands off the East Coast of Malaysia which is powered by generators and we we staying in bungalows on a golden beach with turqoise blue waters which only had electricity from 7pm-7am every day and no wi-fi which is the reason for the delay since our last blog. I (David N) am sat in our hostel in Hat Yai while the other 3 have all crashed after a long day travelling and ... read more

So, lots of things have happened since my last blog post! We spent quite a few days in Chiang Mai which was amazing. We went elephant trekking for the day which was amazing (even though I was definitely scared of them at the beginning! Washing elephants in the water is an experience I will never forget! We also went to tiger kingdom and played with baby and big tigers (and when I say big, I mean HUGE tigers!) I don't think i wuld have had the courage to go if Brin and Harriet hadn't gone in with me! After Chiang Mai we headed to Phuket for the evening before getting the bat to Phi Phi. Getting off the aeroplane in phuket was an awful experience. We were hassled frm every direction possible, being pushed around when ... read more
