Allez !

Krabi town So we grab another awesome Bangkok Airways flight to Krabi town. It's raining when we arrive but we jump on a shuttle bus for cheap. The town isn't much, there are really just two streets which have restaurants and pubs. We arrive at a nondescript building and the driver signals at Cameron and me to get off. We are on a bus full of people, but only we are told to get off. We ask a few times if they are sure we get off there, and the other passengers look confused as well, but they seem insistent so we get off. Now we have no idea where we are. We ask a lady sitting on the corner of the building if she knows where our hotel is, and lo and behold, we are ... read more

Krabi / the last days I'm torn between not wanting to go back and being really excited about home. The realities of life at home like work, $13 thai food, snow, and a general lack of adventure are looming as they wait for me. Yet I am looking forward to clean tap water and not using a billion plastic bottles, food shopping and cooking, doing my own laundry, and knowing my way around town. Obviously I am excited to see my family and friends and GiGi. I won't have to justify what I want to do or rely on someone else to make my moment to moment plans (mostly). It's bittersweet as the end to any vacation or trip is. I remember feeling this way as I left Ecuador, only I was on tears because I ... read more

Hello to all, I'm back on the road again! But only a relatively brief month-long trip or so this time, back to my favourite destination Thailand again, where I hope to check out some parts that I'd missed earlier. And my first stop was in the laid-back riverside town of Krabi, pretty much renowned among backpackers as the launchpad for the pristine beaches of nearby Ao Nang, as well as the cluster of islands Koh Phi Phi, immortalised in Leonardo di Caprio's movie The Beach. It is the latter that I will be heading to after two days of lazy wandering around the quiet streets of Krabi Town in the low season. Apart from it being my first time here, I'd also taken the opportunity to check out a trade fair in town, and planned an ... read more

It's the 1st of May long week-end...most of my clients are off, same thing for my suppliers...only Leslie and Tiffany still have school in Bangkok, but they have a visitor for few days. You may start to know me...between more adventures, or a week-end of going out in Bangkok, I go for more discoveries. Years back, when Leslie was just one year old, we visited Railay Beach for few days, staying in basic accommodation by the beach, and doing not much of our time. This time, it is a little different. First thing first, I dive...and there are only few days available. So I truly need to be cautious when it comes to planning...don't want to miss some diving because there is a plane to take! So this time, it's the slow way...but rather fun one ... read more

After celebrating Spring Festival with Emily's family, we were lucky to still have 2 weeks off from school. So we headed for sunny Thailand! We flew into Bangkok but jetted right out again to the southern beaches of Krabi. Our friend Hthaiwon had suggested it as a beautiful retreat that was not too touristy. Our first hotel that we had booked online was truly that. A taxi ride away from the Krabi airport, the Sea House Resort was indeed isolated. We checked into our spacious and tropical cabana that overlooked both the pool and the ocean and instantly relaxed. Taking a stroll on the beach, we saw only seashells and a few longtail boats. The restaurant at the hotel consisted of 6 wooden tables on a patio between the beach and the pool, shoes and shirt ... read more

So after a 6 hour mission up to Auckland….traffic, I finally made it to Auckland for an afternoon of cuddles with my gorgeous nephew Fletcher and a good catch up with the Steve and Michal-Louise. I also have the best brother in the world for getting up at 4am and driving me to the airport for my ‘why do they have to fly so stupidly early’ flight. Flying with Qantas, I was stoked to finally have no issues with luggage allowance and managed to take all my own stuff and the donations with no problems, yay! All flights connected like a dream and in the end I spent a total of about half an hour on Australian soil before boarding the next flight to Bangkok, and caused my own delay in Bangkok due to a forgotten ... read more

W ... read more

We spent a couple of days in krabi.. Lots of night markets, pancakes (banana and nutella you little beauty), became obsessed with massaman curry, played pool and wandered up and down the river. We booked on a day trip that was frikking awesome: climbed down a waterfall that was 40 degrees (heated by a volcano.. Craaaaazy!), swam in a natural crystal clear pool, visited more temples, climbed 1300 steps with monkeys and listened to the life stories of other travelers.. Damn good day. For my birthday Mark (the amazing being that he is) booked 3 nights at a posh resort on kho klang island. It's also the only resort on the island which has no cars, just lots of fisherman and paddy fields. We stayed in a fisherman style hut raised off the ground overlooking the ... read more
