Day 1 Arriving at Krabi airport, all the bags were offloaded into the entrance of the building, not on the carousel. Once we figured that out, we went in search of transportation to our hotel. The taxi cartel at the airport is in full swing here, so paying a premium we found a driver who would take us. Unfortunately he didn't know where the hotel was. Dean was all for going back to the airport but luckily the driver eventually engaged his brain and asked some tuk tuk drivers on the side of the road. Eventually we arrived at our destination, which was covered in bamboo scaffolding. Upon closer inspection, yes, it was still open for business. The lady at reception was very nice and switched rooms for us when she realised it would be too ... read more

I had a short tour of The Emerald Pool located at Klong Thom district. This pool is named by it's own condition, huge pool with green crystal clear fresh water looking like emerald. This pool covers 100 square meters which you can see clear trough the bottom of the pool. The Emerald pool originates from a warm stream in the middle of Khao Nor Juji forest. The hot spring waterfall, also located at Klong Thom district near to the Emerald is about 50-60 degrees celcius and also originates from the middle of Khao Nor Juji forest. A long running hot water channel drops down a few meters to another cool pool at the bottom. People believe this small pool can cure many diseases? It was a nice few hours. I've made a call to book in ... read more

After an early 06.15 start and after my goodbyes to Tatlor I arrived in to Krabi Town at about 1pm. Already I feel I made the perfect choice on both hostel (PakUp Hostel is certainly on a par with Saphaipae of Bangkok and only £4 a night with free wifi, aircon and a rooftop bar) plus its right in the centre of town by the port and night market. I'm glad I am not stayi in touristy AoNang or at Krabi beach, the town has a real charm and of course prices for accommodation and food etc are lower in comparison. Tomorrow I leave for PhiPhi. Bamboo island, monkey beach, Phi Phi Don, Pi Leh bay, Viking cave and Maya Bay (film location for 'the beach') I cat wait! These islands are true paradise. My last ... read more

Our travel marathon began on Sunday morning at 9:30 and ended on Tuesday evening. There were two boats, several tuk tuk's (kind of like trucks with seats in the back), and a number of busses. We began on the island of Koh Yao Noi, and took the 9:30 ferry to Krabi. We enjoyed our last bit of time in the bay of Phang Nga, the limestone kursts, and the playful kids on the ferry. From Krabi province, we took a tuk tuk to Krabi town, found an airconditioned cafe and killed a bit of time before our bus left at 3:30. Our bus turned out to be a van which travelled around Krabi picking up travellers to catch the bus to Bangkok which departed several hours from Krabi. Around 7:30 that evening, we hopped on our ... read more

This blog contains 77 photos. To view all of them scroll down and turn the pages. I will be adding more pictures and some cool videos soon so stop back! After 2 nights in Phuket, it was time for my big drive to Kho Lanta. I got a super early start, so I could visit Tiger Wat Cave before it got too hot. Sri Panwa sent me off with a lovely boxed breakfast for the road. It was much easier navigating Phuket Town in the dawn hours than it was in the early afternoon, thus I enjoyed the scenery much more. I thought it was really cool to see the monks out with their bowls collecting morning food alms. Photo-op after photo-op presented itself, but I had no way to stop and take one. This was ... read more

Rain, rain and more rain... It had truly set in and we were soaked at least once a day. Krabi is a fairly standard Thai town. It was good for us to catch up on all our boring stuff like getting photos printed and clothes washed but we were keen to move on fairly quickly. We did visit a nearby temole that was surrounded by hundreds of monkeys. You could buy peanuts to feed them so of course we did and they climbed all over me to get to them! After monkeying around for a bit we decided to attempt the 1,237 stair climb to a small temple at the top of the mountain. It was hard work the stairs were so steep, practically vertical and very uneven but we made it up in good time ... read more

As it turned out the trip was one of the better ones! Well organised, the first buses and boats we have ever been on that were not full, running on time and no one tried to kill us on roads or boats! No one even went through our bags. We arrived in Krabi early afternoon with not much to do, really we just wanted to breack up the journey. Krab town is a small quiet town (or quiet when we were there) which is mostly used as a transport hub for getting to the islands. We got caught up on some internet activity, had a bit of a walk around town and then headed out for tea. In Krabi there was a lovely little buzzy night market where you could pick some cheap local food from ... read more

Back in Thailand, the land of spicy food, beautiful beaches, girly girls, girly boys, old purvey men, hard beds, elephants, massaRRRRGes, and SWENSONS….we love it. But be warned - never trust a fart in Thailand! KRABI We arrived into Krabi airport and feeling very pleased with ourselves speeding through airport formalities in a record time of 4 minutes, we are confronted by Thai girls sitting in caged booths, with their hands poking through the metal grills waving furiously at us and yelling out in the hope we will select their transport options. Anyone would think it was a matter of life or death! We bypass the taxi at NZ$25 and race for the shuttle at half the price (300 baht) NZ$12. The shuttle, in the form of an old cranky bus, waited until every possible passenger ... read more

Onze mp3 ... read more
