After a bad nights sleep we elected to get up and watch the sunrise at 0530. It didnt quite happen however and after hitting snooze a few times (lol), we finally got up at 0830 to glorious long awaited and most welcome- SUNSHINE!!!!!! We didnt yet know it but today would be a day of firsts. The first day the sun came out, the first time we would swim in the sea, making it really feel like a holiday! It would however also be the first day we would get the dreaded sunburn!!! lol. For the 1st time since ariving in Koh Yao we had a sense of urgency about ourselves as we hurried our breakfast to get out into the sunshine. Hardly a cooked fry but our wallets will thank us for it even if our appetites wouldnt! We then decided to sample the downtown Koh Ya shopping area, a single quaint market street catered towards mainly thais but selling the odd tourist trinket! In a bid to hippy-fy ourselves and look part of the crowd we bought a few bits and bob, including a jingly jangly ... read more

After taking a while to figure out how to turn the shower on, there i am standing naked in the shower apart from my shoes! as the squat toilet is the same level as the shower floor. Yelping already at the ice cold water hair full of soap when i see something out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look at the hole and see something brown and slimey emerging from it. I grap the shower head and squirt in the direction and it appear to go away. But seconds later it is back again! I keep spraying the hole but its just not working, whatever it was just kept coming out, it now appears to be a snake as i cant see how long it is. At this point I am begining ... read more
