I did not feel much like traveling too far so I spent my time with friends around Pattaya and Bangkok on this visit to Thailand. Watching a sunset at Jomtiem Beach or wandering around Lumpini Park or a river cruise along the Chao Phraya in Bangkok are some of my favorite pastimes. I enjoy going for a long walk most days and there is always something to do when I am in Thailand. The photos give you a glimpse of what keeps me occupied on these trips. ... read more

Today Nico and I visited a beautiful little island just 7 km from Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand. In the morning we did some quick research to find out a little about how we could get there, price, and some good advice on how to avoid being shafted. We read the beach was beautiful (lie) quiet (lie) and you could get there for just 30 baht (yet another lie). But ill get to all that later. We caught the boat which as it turns out was 150 baht (per person) at the cheapest. The journey was lovely ,perfect scenery the gentle rocking of the boat soothed Nico and i into a lull of comfort which led us to a beautiful state of mind in which we didn't bother to notice that there was one language ... read more

We have been in Pattaya now for 3 days, its been quite a strange experience so far. Nico has obviously been to Thailand before (3 times to be exact) but he spent most of his time in rural areas, far from the beaten path of the pasty white American sex tourists and now finds himself at ground zero. And as we have only had time to see Bangkok and Pattaya, staying only in cites has been a similarly odd experience for him as it has for myself. To the above, i must add the strangeness has very little to do with the location /destination/or distance from home. I'd say its more a cultural one and not 'traditional' culture at that. I am referring to the extreme culture of commerce - selling everything from inanimate objects to bodies. ... read more

hi everyone. i went to thailand and it was my first trip to this country and it was really enjoyful. but i observe that this is the only country which does have much natural beauty but it has most extreme level enjoyment fun at night. especially for bechelors ! other wise adults for many bars etc... i really enjoyed water sports at pataya beach like parachuting which costs 1000 thai baht. and other water scooter for 500 baht. it was also good but have to b very carefull becuase many scooters r already damaged. and at night walkin street best place !. special notice for bechelors avoid girls from outside streets and beach. only talk to those girls in the bars n clubs.... read more

We spent another 6 days in Pattaya, watching soccer, drinking and partying. The beach here is just awful, so we made sure the hotel had a pool. The hotels up here are an amazingly good value. One day we went to an aquarium. The aquarium turned out to be excellent. Enjoy the pictures. Allan and hist friend are going home after, and I am heading to Chiang Mai to explore the North. I need a couple of days to detox and recuperate as I feel completely exhausted trying to keep up with a couple of twenty-year-olds. Next stop, Chiang Mai.... read more

A New Day Begins This trip to Thailand has been filled with every emotion. I have been sad about the continuing political problems that continue to make the lives of many Thais so difficult in these tough economic times and ruin the image of Thailand abroad. I have also been very happy to spend some time with two Thai families during the Songkran festival with two days in Phetchabun and a few precious hours in Korat. The pure joy of the Thai people celebrating Songkran always makes me feel the same way whatever else is happening in the world. The best part of any trip to Thailand for me besides visiting new places is meeting friends from previous trips and the chance to make some new friends. I have been so fortunate to meet some wonderful ... read more

Hi folks, it's been a while! So, here we are again in Thailand, for another round of Summer School English teaching for the students from the Sem Pringpuangkeo Foundation. But there is a minor difference this year. My visit is being bookended (is that the right terminology?) by a brief stay at Pattaya at the start, and a visit to Burma at the end. The former is to participate in an executive meeting of the Foundation, especially arranged to coincide with my visit, so I can offer a ‘Western’ view on their activities. The latter trip has two objectives - to retrace some of the travels that Bob and I undertook when we backpacked Asia in 1974, especially the activities associated with the River Irrawaddy; and also to check out a potential future teaching stint at ... read more

Firtstly, thank you so much to all our friends and family who supportedm us with messages and calls during our hard times. The few days we were appart we're pretty pants. We both realised one big thing which was that we obviously both lost perspective of what we did have and concentrated on what we didn't. Being appart made us realise how lucky we were and that we had something to amazing to let go of so easily. We are working through our problems by talking honestoly and spending time appart too to experience stuff seperatly as well as together and so far so good. We are now very happy and having a better time than we could imagen. so blog is on! We left Bnagkok and went to Pattaya a few hours down the east ... read more

Sexturisme, barer i stribevis, turister i massevis osv.
