Ja, da var dagene i Filippinene talte...allerede! Tiden gaar saa fort! Du har sikkert ... read more

I arrived in Cebu at 4am. Having only booked the hotel for that night, I wasn't really sure what I was going to do once I got there. I was hoping that they'd let me checkin early at say midday but wasn't sure what I'd do until then. I thought about hanging around the airport but it was pretty small and no one about so I jumped in a cab and went straight to the hotel. To my relief the receptionist at the Midtown Hotel said they could check me in at 6am with no extra charge. Pretty impressive I thought, would have expected them to at least charge me for half a day. Anyway I slept for half the day and decided to go for a walk down the road. I expected Cebu City to ... read more

Hello everyone! We have now left China, ended with a few days in Hong Kong, seeing the wonderful sights of The Harbour and absorbing the views from Victoria Peak. We enjoyed our stay as we hadn't see Western people and had such a choice of Western food for such a long time! This blog does needed updating! Time to move on we decided to chance a flight to Vietnam, to continue our travels down Asia, and went to the airport in hope of a bargain. We did manage to get a flight but unfortunately we hadn't applied for a visa, as we thought we could do this upon entry. So we got our refund and stood analysing the Departures board with our South East Aisa Lonely Planet in hand to check out visa requirements. It came ... read more

...well you won't see Cebu in the pictures as we didn't take any. Our first blog with no pictures and the honest reason why is a combination of 3 things. The first being that where we were staying had a lot of dodgy people hanging around, the second being we were too lazy to take any and the third being that Cebu, like Manila, is not particularly photogenic and most of our time in Cebu was spent experiencing the Philippines various transport options! Our ferry from Siquijor to Dumaguete was again a vomit-fest because of the rough seas and again we 'luckily' secured ourselves 2 benches to escape the nausea. By the time we reached Dumaguete, it was clear that both of us were coming down with a head cold. The 30 minute walk to the ... read more

Wow, i love Cebu! The people are warm, taxi drivers are very friendly, food is great! what can i say? our 4 days/3 nights stay was really memorable for me and my husband! initially we decided to cancel our plans on going to Cebu due to budget constraint but finally decided to go anyway since it's a once in a lifetime experience and we're really glad that we did! Ok so let me start my kwento. we boarded Cebu Pacific on Sept.7, 2007 10:30AM and landed at Mactan International Airport at 11:30AM. i was adviced on one forum to go straight on the 2nd floor of the airport to get a taxi since the taxis in front of the airport charges steeply! and he was right! the taxis in front charges us P375 going to Cebu ... read more

Everytime I try to write this blog a computer crashes on me. I left Siquijor Island at about 8 the guy who I did the tour with picked me up and dropped me on the jetty roughly an hour later I was on the dock in Dumaguette buying a ticket to Cebu via Bohol, I had to wait a while so I went and bought some postcards, had some lunch etc, before heading back to the dock. I splurged a little and got a first class ticket which gave me the whole section to myself which was pleasant, it was just before arriving in Bohol that I realised I had already missed my flight back to Clark, so I had stressful night until the travel agents opened and I was able to get a flight on ... read more

Ok, I've already decided that all cities in the Philippines are gross. And I mean gross by SE asian standards. NOT western standards. Do they think that 'installing' aluminum 'urinals' in the middle of the sidewalk actually handles the public urination problem? I got a comment from some reader about staying home if I expect to see cities like in Canada. No, I don't. Of course not. I was just shocked that the Cebu was still so gross in my opinion after already having been through so many other third world cities. Sure the pictures always show the beautiful landscape. Why wouldn't they? Who would be attracted to the dumps? "Oh, that looks like an interesting dump to go to." Not many. Heading out to Moal Boal today. Right away. It's about a 3-4 hour bus ... read more

Philippines (part two) After a few nights in Dumaguette, we jumped on a boat then bus up to Moalboal and checked into Pacitas, home of the legendary Saturday night disco. Marie was delighted to see that we had arrived on the night that the disco was holding the ‘Pacitas Bikini Open 2006.’ This started quite tame with girls walking around onstage in bikinis - then, came the ‘individual show-down round.’ Contestant number 1 came out with a 1 litre bottle of Red Horse and proceeded to pour this over herself whilst dancing around on top of tables. Andy and Fraser thought this was a waste of a particularly good beer. Marie loved it though. After Moalboal, we headed to Cebu City for a night out. Fraser got food poisoining from a dodgy buffet that cost about ... read more

Last November 2006 we attended the Philippine Intitute of Certified Public Accountants' Convention held in Cebu City. During the City Tour, we visited various tourist spots. We went to see the Magellan's Cross, __, Chinese Temple, Malacanang in Cebu, Puerto de San Pedro. The cost in going to Cebu from Manila is minimal either by sea or air. The entire City is accessable by taxi and other public transport. There are various selection of food ... read more
