Prijemny dobry den!Akurat som dorazil z mesta.Kedze zajtra rano idem vlakom do Nikko (mestecko na zozname Unesco) a tam budem cely den okukavat chramy a aj nocovat, dnes som si kupil celodenny listok na metro.Trochu reku posetrim sily. Ked som tam dorazil, dostal som odporucanie prist o hodinku a pol, kedze potom budu predavat listky na poslednu cast predstavenia.Ono je to trochu zvlastne.Cele to predstavenie trva az 5 hodin a ma napriklad aj 5 casti.Nie je ale nutne ist na cele predstavenie, ale da sa aj na jedno alebo dve dejstva.Kedze som mal aste kopec ... read more

And so it begins...I will attempt to entertain you all with my traveling stories based on actual events, fictional, and some that blend the two and I'll let you decide which is which....those that have goggled and found me then all entries are definitely 100% fictional ;) So 5 days have completely disappeared since my last day on the job trying to get all items possible for this trip and following the advice of so many people (thanks to you all) on potential do's and dont's...and now I sit in the Air Canada lounge staring down at my 65L backpack (including a nifty day pack) and I can't help but have a goofy smile on my face...never thought I'd be a backpacker! Let's start with the plan...or really lack of a plan (one of the of ... read more

We left off the last blog waiting for Jason to arrive. He made it. We've since visited Kyoto (old old old capital of Japan) and just arrived to Bangkok. It's 2:30am here. We're exhausted. We'll fill in the details tomorrow.... read more

After a 12+ hour flight from Minneapolis and an incredibly shaky landing, we made it to Tokyo. Stu and I managed to make our way to the hotel after hauling our luggage about a quarter of a mile through the train station. We checked in around 8pm Sunday night and toured the room and found the best part of the trip here...a HEATED toilet seat! Scott will know exactly the model. Rear behind spray, laugh, laugh laugh, is perfect. Why is the US so far behind in technology? Who wouldn't want their tushy to sit down to a nice warm seat? No one I can think of. We left the hotel for a snack and went a small office plaza across the street with tons of restaurants. After picking one with no english speaking waiters we ... read more

So not much time passed since my last post, but I'm getting free internet access after buying a very expensive bottle of ice tea, so here I am again... I had some Wendy's breakfast meal this morning (not exactly sure what I actually ate...), walked around Shinjuku very early in the morning (around 6AM), and stumbled upon a Buddhist graveyard. Yep, just walked in... thought it was a nice little zen garden, and then realized I was surrounded by tombstones... But it was so beautifully built! The plants were like bonsai, and there was a bell tower built with such detail, the roof top curving perfectly outward, and the platform built with perfect blocks of stones. Kind of reminded me of the Incan temples in Peru, with perfectly chosen blocks of stone forming the walls of ... read more

... read more

We was so soooo tired we didn't actually get up till after 11am ( it was pretty comfortable the spot we found) so wasn't able to check in till 4pm so we ended up walking around Tokyo killing time.. That's how I'd describe the people of Tokyo so far. I'm writing this at about quarter after eight in the morning Japan time. I'm already dressed and have had a shower. Why is this, you ask? Subway closes at midnight. Cabs are ridiculously expensive. But that doesn't stop anyone in this town from doing their thing. I went out for a "night on the town", as it were, with some friendly people I've met here at the hostel. Two Britts, two Americans, and myself. Quite a balanced group. The subway and trains start running again shortly after 5:00. Consequently, every single bar and club closes at that time. So, if you're going to party, it had better be an all-nighter. There's no meeting it halfway unless you want to walk or take a cab across the ... read more

Japan is so amazing! The people are very friendly! All you have to do is look confused and stare at a map for more than a minute and someone will be along to help you find your way. Granted there is a slight communication barrier, but I have had people draw elaborate maps for me. Yestarday I was walking around in the rain and a man came up to me and gave me his umbrella. He said "You no get wet, you no get wet." The Japanese are not just people friendly either. They are also very eco-friendly. They actually just created an entire hybrid train! Very few people smoke here (you can't even smoke on most streets) and no one talks in the cell phone. They actually aren't allowed to talk on it is most ... read more
