After a 12+ hour flight from Minneapolis and an incredibly shaky landing, we made it to Tokyo. Stu and I managed to make our way to the hotel after hauling our luggage about a quarter of a mile through the train station. We checked in around 8pm Sunday night and toured the room and found the best part of the trip here...a HEATED toilet seat! Scott will know exactly the model. Rear behind spray, laugh, laugh laugh, is perfect. Why is the US so far behind in technology? Who wouldn't want their tushy to sit down to a nice warm seat? No one I can think of.

We left the hotel for a snack and went a small office plaza across the street with tons of restaurants. After picking one with no english speaking waiters we managed to order a beer (priorities) and pointed to a couple other items on the menu. What arrived was some meat stuffed cabbage, some meat dumplings, and two sardine sized fish. After paying the tab of $50 we made it back to the hotel and were asleep within minutes. Jet lag definitely makes falling asleep a snap.

We awoke this morning (Monday) and

Jess Zemple met us at 6:30 am. We had breakfast and set out to find the Tokyo Sports bar. We found it immediately at 7:45 am and settled in to watch the Giants beat the Patriots. Our congrats go to Eli for a well deserved win. It was pretty cool watching the game with a bunch of other tourists. It was televised with no commercials. The only thing we missed.

After the game the three of us decided to tour the city. We took a train a couple stops away to a shopping district. We made our way to a park with a shrine. Very serene and beautiful. After that we found our way over to Harajuku. If anyone is a Gwen Steffani fan they'd know that's the name of her backup singers (the Harajuku girls) who are these little Japanese teeny bopper girls dressed in short skirts, knee highs, and tall shoes. We definitely knew when we were in the area because these girls were all over the place. We'll try and post some pics at some points cause Jess got a few good ones. Stu was in heaven.

We are now back at the hotel enjoying happy hour and patiently awaiting Triche's arrival. Tonight's plans will be revealed in the next blog segment as well as more details on our trip to Kyoto. What did Bill Murray say to Scarlet Johannsen at the end of Lost in Translation....? we'll let you know after our martinin there tonight.
