I live in Indian capital New Delhi, which is known for it’s historic monuments. Yet, I could not find time or urge to visit them for so long. When I finally got chance to visit one of the monuments, Humayun’s Tomb in connection to a story I was doing, I was floored by the marvelous marble structure. I visited it again with my friend from USA. Here, I am sharing my impression of this monument with travelblog readers. When you first come face to face with the majestic Humayun’s Tomb, you can’t help but say: "Oh, I’ve seen that somewhere! It looks like the Taj Mahal, that famous monument to love."  Well, before you stretch your brain too far, let the truth be told. It’s the Taj Mahal that looks like Humayun’s Tomb. The red and ... read more

Eden izmed policajev je sel do stojnice, koder prodajajo fotoaparate, zalozil svojo osebno in dobil fotoaparat ... read more

Vozili ... read more

I never really had a desire to go to India. Sure I love travelling but had heard too many horror stories about the dreaded 'Delhi-Belly'. Spending a week in a small room with only a newspaper for company was not my idea of fun. I could not have been more wrong. Delhi was awesome and I will definitely return to India. Two weeks is simply not enough time. SPORT WITHIN SOCIETY BACKGROUND It is well known that India’s national sport (obsession) is cricket, with champion players such as Sachin Tendulkar treated as living gods. Other popular sports include hockey, soccer and wrestling. An interesting game is kabbadi, which I was fortunate enough to witness on my visit to a rural village. Kabaddi, a variation of tag, involves two teams of seven in which players take turns ... read more

On arrival in Delhi we checked Kristen into a room in Paraganj and then I had one of the best Thali's in India. Then pretty much straight to the airport to catch my flight to Bangkok. Kristen was heading to Varenasi before back up to Nepal to catch her flight later on. ... read more

When I landed in Delhi my main pack was following me, and would have just landed in Bangkok from LAX. This meant that I had to stick around for a while to wait for it to catch up with me. Thai airlines had been great about it and agreed to give me $75 for the trouble. It worked out great in my 19 hours in Bangkok since I never had to worry about a large pack. I had arranged a pick up from the airport and they took me to my guesthouse in Paraganj, where I got a great room with no windows and a fan. This seemed to work out great since there was no noise from outside, and the heat didn't get to come in either, although it was pretty hot! A good deal ... read more

Right now we are in Nepal having a much-needed break from the onslaught of India... We landed in Delhi in the middle of the night (never a good idea) and were taken for a complete ride for the following 16 hours. We got into a "Delhi traffic Police pre-paid taxi" as our guidebook said that this was about the only way to avoid being ripped off - wrong! After ignoring a string of touts and locating our assigned taxi, we sped off into the dark streets of Delhi, dodging cows along the way. After a while, our driver declared he was lost and we stopped at a hotel to ask for directions, where we got re-directed to a "tourist office" around the corner. They called our chosen hotel for us and Scott spoke to the so-called ... read more

There are just not as many nice things to say about Delhi - I knew I'd hate it. The best part was leaving! On our way to the airport, poor Mike was suffering badly from a hash hangover, brought on by mushing the last of our stash into cookies. (We had to get rid of that stuff somehow.) He was really dragging but I told him that if it meant me hauling him + both our packs singlehandedly to the airport, we were going to make it to our plane outta here! I was a ball of fire! I organized everything - our transport to the city center, a rickshaw to the airport and some quick food. The only place nearby was an English fast-food chain, Wimpy's. We ordered burgers (ground lamb meat and sliced cabbage, ... read more
