Seit hier die berüchtigten chinesischen "Hundstage" begonnen haben, gehen wir täglich nach dem Unterricht im Meer baden. Auch Chinesen sind am Strand anzutreffen, obwohl hier die blasse Haut sehr angesagt ist. Um ja nicht braun zu werden gibt es verschiedene Methoden, entweder man zieht sich gar nicht aus oder nutzt Sonnenschirme. Am Strand findet man deshalb aufgestellte Zelte die einerseits als Umzieh-Kabinen und auch als Sonnenschutz für die modebewusste Dame genutzt werden. Der Sonnenschutz geht so weit dass in der Stadt und sogar im voll besetzten Bus aufgespannte Schirme allgegenwärtig sind und sogar beim wechseln von einem Kaufhaus ins nächste wird zumindest eine Zeitung vorgehalten. Ein chinesisches Sprichwort sagt: eine Reise beginnt mit dem ersten Schritt. Dank meinem Ex-Arbeitskollege Ivan verfestigte sich die Idee eine Reise zu machen. 4 Wochen vor Abreisetermin habe ich mich Entschieden, es soll ein Sprachaufenthalt und eine Rundreise in China werden. Der Erste Schritt dazu war das Sammeln von Informationen. Zum Glück befand sich in meiner "umfassenden Bibliothek" sogar ein Reiseführer für China. Er stammt zwar aus dem letzten Jahrhunder und ich weiss nicht wie er es in mein Bücherregal geschafft hat. Glücklicherweise wechseln Ortschaften selten die ihre Lage und somit ist der für die erste Grob-Planung durchaus hilfreich. Im laufe der Planung habe ich mir ein aktuelleres Buch zugelegt, doch ist dies nicht so ausführlich wie der Alte, ich werde beide mitnehmen. Hi All, I've had a great time wandering around the old parts of this city. As is usual here in China the contrast are incredible. From huge villas overlooking the beaches with big cars on the drives to the have nots. Qingdao was a German concession and remained part of the German Empire until the end of the First World War. As part of the reparations after the Great War the concession was not returned to the Chinese, even though the Chinese had been on the western front digging trenches for the allies, it was instead given to the Japanese who had a treaty with Britain. Today was a busy and emotional day for the students and the teachers; it was our last day at the summer camp. The competition that everybody has been anticipating finally arrived. All our contestants prepared extremely hard for the semi finals and their effort was paid off. In the morning, we went to the live studio of Qing Dao Television in preparation for the competition in the afternoon. We walked through the stage and received instructions on what we had to do. It was a busy morning filled with endless rehearsals. After lunch, the moment that everyone has been waiting for finally arrived. We first enjoyed an amazing performance by a band that played ancient Chinese music, which eventually led to the competition. Today, it was raining outside, so we visited the Li Cang Science Centre and Qing Dao Polar Ocean World, instead of visiting Mount Lao. This morning, we took the bus to the Li Cang Science Centre. The Science Centre had three floors. First we went to the upper floor, there were many science games, but I didn’t play any, because many were broken. I just sat on a chair and waited for the rest of the students to finish playing. After, the teacher brought us to the first floor to do fun experiments. I did experiment No.15. Our team helped each other to finish the experiment.
