Nevedel resp skor nechcel povedat. Tak som teda kopol do noh a smer ho na ulicu Avenue El Mouahidine oproti parku Arset El Bilk resp mesite koutobia kde je stanovisko mhd busov arset el bilk. Nabieham do prveho busu, pytam sa vodica, hovori c.8. Kukam take cislo nikde, dalsia otazka smerovala na mladu zahalenkynu,ta nerozumela. No nic. Odchytavam koordinatora(?) na mini bus stanovisku. Zistujem kedy odchadza c.8, posiela ma ... read more

Today we've booked a full-day tour up over the Atlas Mountains to the town of Ouarzazate and the fortified city of Ait Benhaddou. We're picked up at the crack of dawn, and meet our guide and driver whose name is Abdul, and two young American men who'll be our travelling companions for the day. Issy's prone to car sickness so she asks if she can sit up the front with Abdul. The Americans are in the middle, so I climb into the back seat. The first part of our trip is through flat, fertile looking country criss-crossed with irrigation channels. We cross some wide and almost dry river beds that almost look a bit out of place in the arid landscape. Even here outside Marrakech virtually all the buildings are the same earthy red colour as ... read more

After the bustle of Marrakesh the whole of this road trip has been as if we were the only people in this part of Morocco. Partly due to Ramadan when many business only open a few hours and people spend the day quietly in their homes asleep during daylight and it’s the low season in this part too, so the peace and quiet was wonderful. At times of course frustrating when you forgot to stock up on food and water early in the morning or the previous evening, visiting closed museums, doors to guest houses firmly closed or if open no one around and then finally after calling “Bonjour!” in the open hotel a sleepy host is roused. But we would rather have had it like this it made it feel special and relaxing. In every ... read more

As we stepped off our camels at the Merzouga camp, we had been greeted with an idyllic scene - pretty ornate lamps laid out in front of the camp like lights along a landing strip, rugs covering every square inch of ground between the tents, white tents standing side by side with beckoning flaps. Awakening the next morning we found an entirely different scene. I was the first to try to leave our tent, and could not initially get out even after unzipping the flap. As it turned out, our particular tent had been ideally situated to catch the blowing sand during the storm, and our hosts had stopped a lot of sand from coming in by tying a large rug up in front of our tent, weighted down by sandbags and heavy cushions at the ... read more

SUNDAY 5TH APRIL 2015 - We are so relieved that all three teams have been reunited and have rested up in Zagora overnight. They were planning on heading off around 10 this morning after a hearty breakfast for the start of their homeward journey. It has been quite an adventure with plenty of ups and downs, but they are still in good spirits and feeling very accomplished at having reached Mhamid together! They hope to get as far as Marrakech this evening. A HUGE thank you to Sally for uploading so many wonderful photos for us all to enjoy. I have attached a selection of some of the scenery over the last few days as they travelled through the Atlas to down to Mhamid (pay no attention to the date stamp - oops!)... read more

Geo: 30.33, -5.86"Holy Hell I look like Shrek!" was my response on waking with the jarring Call to Prayer and stumbling into the bathroom. My eyelids had swollen to twice their normal size - I had woken several times during the night, coughing and sneezing, but assumed that this was the remnants of the cold that had been plaguing me for the entire trip. It would now appear that there had been some form of allergen in the room - animal hair would be my first culprit, followed closely by feathers - both guaranteed to leave me looking like David Guest after 8 rounds with Tyson. I prised my eyes open long enough to stagger out of the door and appreciate the sun rising majestically over Ait Ben Haddou from our terrace before heading to the ... read more
