Days 41-42 (Tue 6th Mar - Wed 7th Mar): Through another hotel I had booked myself onto a felucca to travel for two days down the Nile as far as Edfu and with a car from there to Luxor (120EGP = 18 Euros). I arrived at the waterside at midday and had a good look at the vessel. The felucca is quite a wide boat, about four or five metres at its widest, and something like ten or twelve metres long (for you 'imperialists', read 'yards' instead of 'metres'). Towards the front is a vertical mast to the top of which is attached a second mast over twice as long as the first, pivoting about two-fifths of the way up its length and tilting back at a steep angle. This second mast holds the sail which ... read more

Day 39 (Sun 4th Mar): My bus arrived at Aswan, the most southerly city in Egypt, at the very reasonable time of 8.30 and I found a hotel (50EGP=3.5Euros) with a Chinese student surgeon, who I'd met on the bus, who introduced himself as 'Jeff', but who's name was actually 'Je-', like saying 'Jeff' but being cut off halfway through the 'e'. I said that it must be very hard for anyone to get his attention as it was almost impossible to shout 'Je-', but he said that everyone in China was called by their surname anyway. We scouted round for the best deal on a tour to Abel Simbel the next day, and then due to tiredness (previous night on bus) slept through the hot afternoon. In the evening we went out for a meal ... read more

Days 34-38 (Tue 27 Feb - Sat 3 Mar) At Dahab I had wanted to scuba dive in the Red Sea but, due to a problem with my ears (they're too big), I could not, so instead I contented myself with snorkelling at a spot known as the Lighthouse. The coral was not as colourful as I had seen on the Ningaloo Reef in North West Australia last year, but there was plenty of it and I was surrounded by colourful fish. I was also lucky enough to see three dolphins, although only at a distance. On another day I took a windsurfing lesson in which I found I could get moving but I struggled to grasp steering the thing. I had an hour's practice on the following day but the wind was very blustery and ... read more

Day 31 (Sat 24th Feb): I got up at the un-holiday-like hour of 6.15 and took a bus south to Aqaba with the intention of catching the 10.00 ferry across the Gulf of Aqaba to Nuweiba in Egypt. At the port though I was told that the ferry would not run due to a rough sea. In fact the weather was perfectly calm but they insisted that it was the reason; I think it was really an excuse to cover up the real problem. I waited around in Aquaba for the whole day hoping to get on the next scheduled ferry which was at midnight. This didn't run either though, and so I slept the night at the port, firstly on a bench outside where dozens of waiting egyptians had also chosen to sleep, and then, ... read more

We found ourselves asking this question more than on any other tour so far. We've seen lots of "old," but this stuff is really OLD! We started and ended our tour of Egypt in Cairo. This is quite the city -- 15 million people, traffic, horns, shoe stores, mosques, pyramids, high rises, casinos, vegetable carts, statues, markets, more traffic, louder horns, more shoe stores -- well, you get the idea! We began at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities where we got to see real mummies including Ramses II and rooms filled with the treasures extracted from the world-famous tomb of the boy-king, King Tutankhamun -- or King Tut as we know him. Sorry, no pictures of the famous golden mask found on King Tut's mummy, but we did see it along with the solid gold coffin ... read more

Merhaba! I wrote a whole story about my last few days in Luxor, which have been very intense at many levels, but then the power was cut off and my writings were lost. So I will only write a poem I wrote this morning, in fact is says all I have to say....hahaha.. Tomorrow I take the train to Cairo and spend some days there to walk around in this wonderful city of many faces and, off course, my last chacra initiation at the Pyramids. For now, all my love Jonnie In graceful connection with Earth speaking to me for the first time, or is it me, listening for the first time? Today is Procyon day, which means that the star Procyon reaches its highest point in the skies this night. I had a very very good sleep and this morning after swimming this was translated in these words. I hear your call gently setting directions Past life memories meaningless in my free-will love intentions. I hear your call of new earth arising as written in stone I am dancing this assignment as a child alone, so happy and surprising. I hear your call pulsating in my heart coming into full alignment with all that is, releasing all that was within me at last. I hear your call and I see the flower opening in all its glory white, shining beauty of unditional LOVE Today I will be visiting the valley of the Queens, which I haven't been ... read more

One thing that is so nice about travelling alone is that one can change plans at any time and as much as I want....hahaha..so this morning I decided to just stay in Luxor at Achmed's camp on the west-bank. During the last week I made some good friends and I just Love the camp and being in Luxor. So I will relax here, swim in the nile, see some more sights too like the valley of the queens and the Luxor museum. I booked a train next tuesday to Cairo so I will have enough time to visit the Pyramids at Gizeh and Saqqara (the last place I haven't seen yet). Then, when I return from South Africa, I will head for the Sinai for there is a special Hathor temple there that I want to ... read more

Hi My Friends, I came back yesterday night from a 2 days' trip to number 5 & 6 Chacra (initiation) places, Dendara (Hathor temple) and Abydos (Osiris complex). I just had a great time! I stayed for 1 night at Horus' place, an egyptian man who heals people using ancient Egyptian alchemy. Unfortunately he was very busey so I wasn't ablle to talk too much with him but somehow I am very sure I will meet my brother Horus again. With Baracca, a very lovely french lady, I visited the Osiris complex wihich was stunning! I straight walked into the Horus sanctuary room without knowing...very nice! The Osirion at the back of the complex is very very old, and for the most part submerged in (dirty) mudd/water. I felt its is very very old and with ... read more
