March, April, May. Are there any reasons to travel in one of the months over the others. I've been checking air fares and April seems to be lower. Is there a concern I'm not aware of. Reply to this

Don
I have traveled a bit, and no matter where in the world I go, I have found that generally, any time is a good time to travel. Admitted, there are some better times, mainly between the summer/winter seasons. From my experience, March April May and again August September October fall in the better category.

As a resident of Africa I can confirm that even here, March April May fall in the 'better' category. I know of no reason why this year will be any different in that period.

Maybe you should jump to get those lower fares. Reply to this

Thanks for the reply. I'll just go ahead with my planning and get the cheapest flight and go. Reply to this

I gave more thought to the lower fares in April.
Maybe the airlines feel guilty about the over inflated prices they charge for June to South Africa (World Cup time) and now try to sooth their own minds with the April prices.

Enjoy your trip. Reply to this

Having lived in Egypt I would recommend that you travel between September to earlly May from then then on temperatures become very hot. The fares are cheaper from February to April, watch out for Easter holidays as the prices go up. Reply to this

The only other factor you need to be aware of if is Ramadan (due to possible change in hours of attractions and restaurants) and the time of the Haj (many flights booked due to The Pilgrims).

Ramadan occurs in mid-August this year, and the Haj is in November, so neither interferes with your plans in that way.

Weather wise, I would try to focus on the March or April period, it might be getting a trifle warm come the end of May (if not before). Egypt is a fantastic country - you will love it! Reply to this

I would recommend Aswan it is my favourite and is a beautiful city with so much to offer. It is a very relaxing and friendly place to be and often tourists do not allow enough time there.

Thanks again, If you would PM me with your recommendations for help in Aswan. One of the blogs that I read said that the wind can get strong and blow dust in March and April. Is this the norm or just bad weather? Reply to this

hi Don, It is mainly in Cairo where it is extremely dusty all the time. The dust in the air is worse at that time.

do you have any tours or places you wish to visit in Aswan,

It's our first time to visit Egypt so we will be doing all of the normal tourist stops. I just don't want to do it with a large group. Reply to this

September to Early December and Mid January to May are the best times to visit. June to August are extemely hot it is constant heat with little variance. You should be aware Cairo is very dusty all year round the accummulation of dust in the home is great on a daily basis so if you asthmatic or suffer from dust allergy a long stay in Cairo is not adviseable.
