For those of you who have been to Africa do you have a favorite animal and why?
Do you have a special story to share with us about your encounter with an animal.

If you have not been to Africa what animal do you think you would love ? What animal will you go to Africa to see? Reply to this

We were in S. Africa last month and we spent an incredible few days in Kruger. We were lucky enough to spot the 'Big 5'.

We were incredibly lucky to have an amazing sighting of a Leopard. It walked along the river bank we were driving next to (maybe 10 meters away), crossed the road behind us, crossed back across the road and then relaxed in the sun, back on the bank. A truly incredible sight.

BUT..... the only reason we slowed down and stopped at that point was because there was a flock of helmeted guinea fowl scratching around in the road. These things are everywhere, we kept spotting them all the way down to the western cape, so they're not that 'special', but if they weren't there, we wouldn't have slowed down and almost certainly would have missed the leopard.

They became the unofficial mascot of the trip, so much so we bought large metal ornamental guinea fowl to bring home. 😊 Reply to this

Great! We are heading to Botswana later this month so we will keep an eye out for flocks of helmeted guinea fowl.
I'm looking forward to meeting Giraffes! I would like to see one run but think that is highly unlikely. Reply to this

Any kind of wild life...I am game...they all fascinate me, even a lizard. I watched a lizard for half hour sitting at Tsavo...waited for the leopard till 1:00 am hanging a bait of lamb, and oh my God...the Cheetha's are so adorable. Going to Zanzibar next month to a national forest where they train the Cheethas...will visit there. You know, honestly, I cannot single out any of them. And they are so natural in the wilderness. As the saying goes, 'the wild life is beautiful in wilderness as the babies are with their mothers."

In response to: Msg #205683 You may be fortunate to watch a running giraffe...I saw one, was running ahead of our jeep in Nakuru, Kenya..And Botswana is my bucket-list for a long time...Enjoy there as well in other places. Keeping track of your blogs. Reply to this
