My day trip up Table Mountain in Cape Town was quite the adventure. The weather couldn't have been more perfect; it was a warm, sunny day, and my friends and I arrived at the base of the mountain at around 11 am, eager to take the cableway to the summit. As we approached the cableway station, we were greeted by a rather disheartening sight – a long queue that stretched on for what seemed like forever. We had to stand in line for about an hour and a half, patiently waiting for our turn to ascend. It was a bit frustrating, but we knew the stunning views from the top would make it all worthwhile. The ascent in the cable car wasn't the most pleasant experience; it swayed a bit, and the thought of being suspended ... read more

Having traveled to Cape Town before, I never imagined that I would actually call this place home. Now that I do, I never want to leave Cape Town. Since arriving in December 2022, my life has changed significantly, and in every way for the better. Moving to another city certainly takes courage and determination, but looking back now, I wouldn't have it any other way. With our furniture and boxes loaded onto the truck, ready to begin the long drive from Pretoria to Cape Town, my family and I were preparing for the same route, by car. With some of our precious belongings and our three dogs in the back of the car, we started our approximately 1500km drive across South Africa. I only have happy memories from that 2-day drive down to Cape Town. We ... read more

Nestled in the heart of Mpumalanga, South Africa, lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered - kaapsehoop! A weekend getaway to this haven left me truly relaxed and deeply moved. For our weekend escape in Mpumalanga, we chose to stay at Karin's Kaya, a self-catering unit renowned for its beauty and comfort. While I'm unsure if they're still in business after the challenging times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, I can't help but reminisce about the spacious, exquisitely decorated house that became our home away from home. As we arrived in Kaapsehoop, we were struck by the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding landscape. The town sits at an elevation of 1,500 meters above sea level, providing stunning panoramic views of the lowveld and distant valleys. The air was crisp and refreshing, and the atmosphere ... read more

On a recent weekend, my girls and I decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and soak in the sun, sea, and cocktails at Camps Bay. Our day was nothing short of spectacular, with delicious cocktails at Café Caprice, a leisurely stroll on the beach, and an appreciation of the friendly locals and stunning scenery. We began our adventure in the heart of Cape Town and found it surprisingly easy to reach Camps Bay. A short drive from the city center, the journey offered breathtaking views of the iconic Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean stretching out before us. Along the way, we couldn't help but marvel at the natural beauty that surrounded us. In 2009, I went on an unforgettable week-long trip to Egypt that left a mark on my travel adventures. The trip began as I boarded a flight from Johannesburg, South Africa, on Air Egypt. The Mena House Oberoi hotel was nothing short of extraordinary as I stayed right across the road from the Pyramids of Giza, a location that felt like a dream come true. One of the highlights of the trip was a day spent exploring the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. In between my explorations, I relaxed by the hotel hotel pool. What truly made this trip remarkable was the unexpected cultural experience I had when our driver invited me to his home for a delicious home-cooked dinner. Sharing stories, food, and laughter with locals was a genuine and heartwarming connection that transcended ... read more

In 2007, my family and I set out on a memorable journey to the heart of nature's wonders in the Northern Cape, where the Augrabies Falls National Park became the highlight of our trip. Our road trip began with the promise of scenic landscapes and the allure of the Augrabies Falls. En-route, we made a pit stop at the charming Pienk Padstal, a quaint roadside stall that turned out to be much more than just a rest area. The shop, adorned with a variety of ornaments, beckoned us with its unique charm and an array of curiosities that fueled our anticipation for the adventures that lay ahead. As we browsed through the eclectic collection of ornaments, we couldn't help but chuckle at the quirky items on display. From whimsical trinkets to humorous novelties, the Pienk Padstal ... read more
