Sorry that it's been a while since the last one. Normal excuse: travelling. So, let's see. What have I done? From Brisbane I went to Noosa, which is a well-heeled old people and families beach town with a nice park. It's supposed to be pretty nice but, frankly, it was dull. I thought it probably would be dull but I stopped there anyway because apparently I have no imagination. I went for a walk in said park which was a bit of adventure. I ended up scrambling through undergrowth to get to the town on the other side and eat in a cafe that was supposed to be good. THe cafe turned out to be much further away than I thought and was merely OK. Nice steer, Lonely Planet! On the othere hand, the place I ... read more

Tue. 30 Saw a school of dolphins. Their lunch, jumping desperately flew ten meters. One dolphin peeled off in chase and caught what looked like a garfish, very long. Wed. 31 May. Drove to Caloundra to see article. VERY disapointing. Picture in colour but only white stars on blue showing. Many inaccuracies including that 7000 stickers had gone out in Caloundra! I wish. Most of article was RSL rebuttal, catering to local retirees. Got green and yellow Artline textures for decorating back of stickers. Stopped at Coolum on way back. Response revived my spirit from dismal article. Went to Sunshine Beach. Long walk into southern part of National Park. Wonderful. Oh yes, and very cold nights indeed. June 1. Stickering surfing crowd at Sunshine Beach. Many birds. Noosa News reporter very on-side. Article to appear. And ... read more

After returning back to the mainland strip which is Airlie Beach, the first thing I did was have a shower...although this proved strangely difficult, as I soon discovered that I still felt like I was on the boat! This was not a great feeling, especially in an enclosed space... All of us from Spank Me met up for a last night out, with the selected bar providing plenty of free drinks for us to play games with...The night for me finished off at Mama Africas which I personally think played the best music to dance to and was the only place still open in the wee small hours of the morning... Well that crazy little stretch of road is now behind me after catching the midnight Greyhound to The Town of 1770. I really did not ... read more

While we were in Airlie beach we decided to take a day trip to the whitsunday islands ( 74 beautiful islands) of course we didnt see all of them. Our boat was a big purple catamaran. This boat trip was alot better than the last. The lunch was ten times better as well. They had a bbq on the boat, for lunch i had a steak grilled fish and lots of tropical salads. we went to white haven beach. I would say it was picture perfect. Cody got lots of nice pictures of the sunset. and we also got to do some snorkelling. my flippers were bright pink. just a side note; cody is puttig my hair in a pony tail as i am writing this. (whipped) we also rented scooters in airlie beach. it was ... read more

Just a quick update as internet time is precious these days. It was absolutely fabulous relaxing on the Sunshine Coast and we definitely spent a few well needed days of doing NOTHING on the beach. The weather for the most part was glorious. It really is hard to think of it being winter when the sun is bearing down on you. We are both officially tanned, yahoo. We took some awesome walks/runs on the beach and the colors were spectacular. We made friends with a wild pelican, what a weird looking bird. We ate freshly caught fish from the wharf. We found plenty of sea glass, as you all know that Ozzies love their stubbies. Basically last week was blissfully relaxing and we are well caught up on our news and even finished some more books! ... read more

When we last wrote we were preparing to travel from Townsville to Airlie Beach by train. And quite an interesting train journey it was. Not long into the journey we decided that an apritif would be in order. Ken went to the buffet bar to buy the same only to be informed that drinks couldn't be drunk in our seats and that we had to use the lounge bar. Not a problem! We had barely taken a sip from our drinks when we got chatting to this wonderful Aussie lady. Altghough well in to her 70s and recovering from serious surgery she was great company and was knocking back wine like a good 'un. The conversation was so entertaining that we were soon joined by an eldely Aussie bloke, who was equally as entertaining. The four ... read more

Been in Cairns a few days now, and so far we are loving it. This is easily a place where we could spend months, there is so much to do. Sam flew back to Sydney today, before heading off to the UK and back to work, so it is just me and Josh again for the time being. The weather so far here has been fantastic... it's a tropical climate so it's been pretty humid, but the rainy season has just ended so it's all sunshine and temperatures in the mid to high 20s which is great. We have basically just taken advantage of that warm weather and spent our last few days in the water. Had a pretty surreal experience as well, Josh, Sam, and I were walking into Cairns to go to a bar ... read more

Well, since my last entry a lot has changed. I've been working a week at 'Home Hill', a typical outback Queensland town - wide streets, loads of pubs with 'XXXX' and traffic consisting mostly of 4x4's and Utes. Today has not been good... in fact, these last two weeks have been one of the worst in my travels. Dwindling funds, stress in finding work and accommodation, no white sand beaches or turquoise seas to swim in... For instance, I checked out of 'Commercial Hotel' today because of the lack of work and because Home Hill isn't much of a place to spend a whole day. It took 15 mins to find a phone which actually worked, then I waited a further 30 mins for the Greyhound bus. I missed it, simply because there was a side ... read more

Monday 29. Called Brisbane 'Courier Mail' and found out the girl who interviewed me was a one-week intern, now gone. Don't think I'll get article. Met a guy with exact echidna hairstyle. Fair dinkum. Day at Park. Saw crested pink and grey galah busy in tree hollow nest. Another stood by. Three meters down the branch a rainbow lorikeet stared into another hollow. Nest? Beautiful day. Sun set at five but.... read more

The calm after the storm, East Coast Dreamin, Every Man Is an Island, Bundy and Beyond! After such a treat of wind at Alva beach an inevitable calm has settled over the east coast, the water is like glass everywhere we go, our wind meter twists lazily at 2 knots, our kites remain deflated and my dreams of the perfect double back roll remain unrealized. Despite this our spirits remain high, as this is a gorgeous part of the country to be lazy in, the beaches sport yellow to white soft sand, the water although a little cool as winter moves in, is clear and deep blue as are the skies. It seems the perfect time for us to go island hopping! After a long drive through a sea of Cain plantations and a night at ... read more
