Friday 26 May. Spruiking cafe strip a guy tells me an article appeared in the "Gold Coast Bulletin" with a colour photo! I'm trying to remember the interview. Maybe he saw the Coolongata paper. Search web. Noosa National Park, Perigian section. Solid stand of paperbarks. Brahminy kites reported and white cheeked honeyeaters. Saw Brahminy and lots of white cheeks (which also have yellow on their wings). Later Noosa Heads -VERY -flashionable. Ubershopping in jungle seting. Flag uberpopular. Saturday 27. Early morning hike through Noosa National Park (7km). Abundant and varied bird life. Many and varied trees. Some huge. Unable to locate koala. Splendid day. Spruiked in-town scene. Top response. Then did mangrove track. Saw mangrtove heron. White. Strolled beach. Swam. Another look for koala. Before you know it its beer time. The new policy is a ... read more

Hello all! Quickly... I have been given a new nickname... Cataway! Fast intro to Fraser...Fraser Island is a world heritage site. It's the largest sand island in the world. It also has a rainforest, beautiful crystal clear lakes, huge sand dunes, view of sharks and other sea life. We signed up for the self-drive 4x4 tour, which puts 11 random people in a Toyota Landcruser with all the camping equipment for 3 days. This had the potential to be a repeat of the Tallarook III. We lucked out and got a wicked group, all 11 of us got on great. There were the four the of us, Simon, Mike, Ben and I who had planned to be in the same group plus another one of our friends Jodi came down from Cairns and joined the group. ... read more

We've come to our last day in Cairns, so I decided to pay the $2 do an update while killing time and waiting for our flight. Cairns has been...good. I think if I were to come back to the area, I'd like to stay further North up the coast. We heard there were some prettier beaches there. In Cairns, there's usually a beach and lagoon, but the lagoon is actually dry now (I've heard something about a drought in the area...). So how have we spent our time here? Mostly in tourist shops that all look the same. Okay...not really, but we did spend a fair share of time shopping. The first night we got here, I was able to meet up with a friend that I met while studying in Germany, Martina, and her boyfriend. ... read more

For the past 3 nights I have been living at sea on a boat called Spank Me. There was 20 of us and 4 crew members. It was all very exciting as I'd never been sailing before...and what a way to start, around the Whitsunday Islands... Our first day we went to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island...this sand was the most softest and whitest sand that I have ever seen in my life. It is 90 something percent silica you just totally sank in it...the sea water would come across certain sections allowing you to wade through to get to an area completely surrounded by water... In the afternoon we sailed to Luncheon Bay and I had my first go at snorkelling...the reef was so colourful and suprisingly close to the beach...it was really shallow too ... read more

Hello All Can you tell that I'm bored? I'm writing more often! The trip from Byron Bay to Brisbane passed without drama and the nice driver dropped me off at my hostel, which was a god send! However, when I got inside I felt really intimidated when I realised how big it was and saw all of these people chatting and things! Luckily, my big bro was on hand to talk me round but I was almost on a plane back home! The next day I had a mooch into town and went to some interviews with agencies. Brisbane is really pretty and the pedestrianised bits are really nice. I ended up buying some new work clothes, as I'd dyed some of my others grey, nice! And bought a new t-shirt because the man in the ... read more

Okay, so I've been wanting to say that for so long and now I have the chance (even if people stare at me all funny, haha). Well, after fully recovering from partying Sydney style, we said goodbye to the weekend and got excited for the week (not that it makes a difference for us when we're traveling, since every day is a weekend, :)~~~~~ ) Monday morning, we headed down to Manly again with the intention of taking the ferry to the Taronga Zoo, but opted for the quicker bus instead. The zoo was fantastic. It sits right on the other side of the harbor so the views of the Opera House and bridge are fantastic, especially where the giraffes hang out. We wandered first through Wild Australia, where we saw koalas, kangaroos, emus, wallabies, wombats ... read more

Hello again children, this week in Ians Blog we will be reading about Fraser Island, Goats, and not having Salmonella any more. I dont have Salmonella any more, went to Fraser Island, and grabbed a goat by the horns while a Portugeeser grabbed its legs, and a German milked it, and drank the milk. I have just arrived in Cairns, and went on a big night out with the guys off my bus, quite good, but I dont actually know any of them, so its hard to have a proper night out if you get me?!?!? Today Im going to look around, and go to the gym - theres a free gym in the hostel, and I havent been for about 7 months, last time I tried in Queenstown, I was so tired from walking up ... read more
