Hello! Hopefully this cool little site will let you know what I'm up to and more excitingly let you see photos and little videos I take! Auntie Lin and Anna I apologise in advance for the poor spelling and grammer So first stop off was Viks and I off to NYC to visit Chris. It has rained pretty much all week - but then it appears to rain where ever Viks goes on hols so we've been blaming her! We saw a Yankees baseball game in the Bronx which involved some shouting for A Rod (we got his shirt) and very cool dancing in the seventh inning stretch - where we had to eat crackerjacks (apparently everone knows that!) We also went to Ellis Island and up the empire state building etc. Got Mum a panda ... read more

Hey all! So Amanda and I finally met up yesterday and spent all day today driving over 400 miles to Dawson Creek. We both started this little roadtrip of ours back to Alaska at different times. I said goodbye to my stepdad and mother on August 21st and set off around 10am for Osoyoos Lake State Park in Oroville, WA. After 288 miles of driving the first day, I got to Oroville and found that the only open (and only easily accessible) restaurant was a small place called Hometown Pizza and Pasta. It turned out to be a small italian place with red walls and random Mickey Mouse paintings. The food was alright, but I bet the pizza would've been better. But after eating dinner, I headed over to the state park to get to my ... read more

Shelburne Museum is probably the number one "must-see" attraction in the State of Vermont. Over the past decades, school field trips from all around the area have journeyed to this wonderful museum. The Ticonderoga and the adjacent Colchester Reef lighthouse are easily two of the most impressive attractions. The lighthouse was built in 1871, dimsatled and moved to the Shelburne Museum in 1952. The steamboat Ticonderoga is a fully restored, side-wheel passenger steamer built in 1906 and moved to the museum grounds in 1955. When visiting the museum, you can buy a DVD or tape that shows the Ticonderoga's remarkable final journey from Lake Champlain to it's present location. I am fortunate enough to live across the street from Shelburne Museum, so it's literally just a few steps away. More info and photos can be found ... read more

Checking in with everyone from the beach! The hotel, the Ocean Park Inn, is literally on Pacific Beach. We got in yesterday afternoon and I spent the day walking the beach. There are a lot of surfers, and I am considering trying it this afternoon. There is a pretty good strip of bars on a local street around here so thats where we went last night. Didn't stay out to late, I'm exhausted after now being gone for two weeks! Today it was cloudy in the morning so I caught up on some laundry but now it is sunny and I am heading to the beach! Tomorrow we leave the beach and spend a night in Old Town San Diego. Then on sunday we will go to the Angels game in Anaheim and then head to ... read more

Today I went on a tour of Creel. I spent an hour yesterday afternoon shopping around for an English speaking tour so I chose this particular one for that reason. But this morning I discovered the tour guide spoke no English. Thankfully there was a Moroccan tourist in the group who works as an English-Spanish-French-Arabic intepreter for Amnesty International. He was on holiday but kindly offered to translate for me. We got along really well and exchanged email addresses. I'm building up quite a list of contacts for when/if I get out of Latin America! The other people on the tour were a father and his two kids from Juarez. First stop on the tour was the 400-year-old, San Ignacio Mission, built by the Jesuits, which is a property with a population of 500 Indians. It ... read more

Those of you that know me well, or read my travel blog from last summer, know my extreme distaste for New Jersey (despite my gi-normous love of New Jers-ians and the movie Garden State...though that's probably just b/c Natalie Portman is in it...). Mainly b/c they don't let you pump your own gas. Newark has become the nexus of all which is distasteful about N Jersey. I took the hotel shuttle back to EWR this morning to try and get into NYC. As the Spanish music blared, we passed through the ghetto of Newark. Newark is bringing ghetto back and in rather serious fashion. We passed by a man sitting on the sidewalk, busking. With an empty 2-gallon drum of paint. Please reference my journal depiction below. It was at this point that my driver switched ... read more

Wow! Montreal... awesome place. Although I was initially dissappointed Emilie didn't come to Vancouver, I am now very happy to have gone to Montreal and also Quebec City. I had a lot of fun, Quebec is just incredibly beautiful and Montreal is a very happening party place. I stayed with Emilie in Montreal at her place on Saturday night, then we headed to Quebec City to see old Quebec and visit her parents who made a delicious dinner for us. Monday we spent the day at 6 Flags in Montreal which was much better than Playland in Vancouver. Tuesday me and Emilie just cruised around Montreal and then we headed to the airport for my flight to London and onto Aberdeen.... read more

Today was my last day in New York City before I was catching a flight back to Los Angeles and starting my Trek America Tour around the USA for 64 nights. I spent all day in Central Park doing more exploring of places I wanted to go to but missed out on beforehand. It was a lonely day because the last 10 or so days I'd had company now I’m wandering around this massive city by myself which felt a little intimidating. I got some fantastic photos of the city skyscrapers towering over the trees in Central Park but apart from that it was a very relaxing and quiet day today. After wandering around Central Park for a few hours I went back to the hostel to pick up my bags and hung around until it ... read more

Our last night in Yellowstone. We arrived back about 7pm, it had been a very, very long day. Sylvan took a nap before dinner and I went out to see Old Faithful for the last time. It's much better at night after all the tour buses have left. We met at nine for dinner in the grand dining room the food is excellent and in addition to the menu they have a buffet every night. (Did I mention that Sylvan tried the Buffalo which is on the buffet menu. He only managed 3 small bites.) Actually Buffalo is very popular most menus have Buffalo burgers, stew etc. I'll stick to beef. Saturday morning we left the park by the East entrance a road we had not driven before. We went by the buffalo herd on this side ... read more

There are various debates about what counts towards the official height of a building, namely whether you can include radio masks, spires or whatever. Suffice to say that the precise details are way too tedious to get into. When we were in Chicago earlier, we went to the Sears Tower, which used to be the highest building in the World (see ). Then there's the Calgary Tower (see ), which claims to be the highest, but that actually its height above sea level, not the height of the tower itself. As I've said previously, we're covering a lot of towers on this holiday. The CN (short for Canada National) Tower, in Toronto is actually the tallest, but it only qualifies as the highest “free-standing structure" in the world. Even then, there are actually taller structures as ... read more
