Our last night in Yellowstone. We arrived back about 7pm, it had been a very, very long day. Sylvan took a nap before dinner and I went out to see Old Faithful for the last time. It's much better at night after all the tour buses have left. We met at nine for dinner in the grand dining room the food is excellent and in addition to the menu they have a buffet every night. (Did I mention that Sylvan tried the Buffalo which is on the buffet menu. He only managed 3 small bites.) Actually Buffalo is very popular most menus have Buffalo burgers, stew etc. I'll stick to beef.
Saturday morning we left the park by the East entrance a road we had not driven before. We went by the buffalo herd on this side of the park which included all the babies we had not seen before. Sylvan crossed the street to get a better picture but thought better of it after one of them started making unfriendly noises. (There are many warnings about people getting gored.) We circled Yellowstone Lake, and crossed out of the park through Sylvan Pass 8,559 feet, (I'm not kidding) then followed the Shoshone River into Cody Wyoming. We had lunch at the Irma Hotel restaurant built by Buffalo Bill Cody and where he had several suites and his office. Couldn't stay for the rodeo which is held each night during the summer. It was actually a lovely town not pretentious like Jackson.
