Since myself and Chris had plans to see Savannah for the day, we also decided to see the Lighthouse as well. It was an additional 30 minute drive, but was nice to have another area to see since we were already looking at a daytrip involving 4+ hours of driving each way. (We later decided this wasn't the smartest of day trip decisions.) The lighthouse is set back from the beach, where suprisingly, many were sunbathing this day. I had only been to the area once, when I was in 8th grade, and my memory just held a cold windy day - not one fully of warmth and sunshine like this new day provided. A structure sits between the lighthouse and the ocean, it's an old fort, with a portion of it currently used as a ... read more

Day two in Atlanta, and I feel as though I need a truckload of coffee to be nearly as perky as all of these other marketers. Whew! Seriously people. The day started out early, but since I was so tired and dragging a little, I managed to be running a bit late. And getting turned around trying to walk to the conference hotel didn't help! With some assistance at my own hotel, I was able to find it and make it to the opening ceremonies with no trouble. Cheesy music started the melodramatics, but the morning was actually really a good one. We started with a little video that detailed some of the problems that legal marketers have, and it was pretty hilarious. I won't bore you with the details, since it's only funny to people ... read more

Tonight's Gala Dinner was held at the Georgia Aquarium - and since it hadn't yet opened during my last visit to Atlanta, I was gung-ho to go. As I met the bus, I was rescued by a nice woman who became my friend for the evening. Sometimes, going alone to these things is hard, because even when you know a few people, the chances of running into them are slim! The aquarium is only about three blocks away, but the about 600 people in attendance were too many in number to walk down. The buses dropped us off and we wound our way down a long path to the aquarium itself. The building was impressive, especially because I knew it was the largest indoor aquarium in the country, at least. We walked down a hallway flanked ... read more

Well, I must admit, I've got a hate on for my computer right now. After being almost at the end of my post about Atlanta, my computer keypad reacted and reloaded the page - deleting all of my words. We'll see how the re-write goes! So anyway, after promising myself that I would never again come to Atlanta after a bad trip here in 2005, I find myself here again. HOTlanta. I'm trying to keep an open mind about my trip, since I do have two friends who moved here and obviously like it here. So maybe it's not all bad - we'll see if I like it any better when I leave! For the first time ever, I was on a domestic Continental flight that left on time. I couldn't believe it. And although crowded, ... read more

After much ado, the blog is backā€¦ The last few weeks have been busy, both Hope and I working as well as two trips (2 for me, 1 for Hope) to Florida to visit the Villages, where my Grandparents live. Hope also took a trip to SC to visit her family. The adventure we took together to Florida was a lot of fun. We were able to spend time with my cousin Rachel, her friend Beth, Uncle Dan and Aunt Teresa. Our schedule was booked solid with sipping cocktails poolside and zipping around the retirement community on their top of the line golf cart. One afternoon we hopped in the Stang and headed south to Lakeland to catch the Detroit Tigers opening of spring training. The Tigers destroyed Florida Southern 14- 0 and we had access ... read more

Well, I guess since I just created this thing I should make a note of exactly what I'm doing. I graduate high school(after four monotonous years of white walled public institution) on 27 May 2007. And due to my survival I have been gifted with a trip of my choosing( well, for the most part...more on this later). I, as stated, chose to travel Europe (with a tour group as insisted by parents and frankly allows me a little relief, new places are scary and new places on different continents with different languages are a bit too much for my fragile southern girl soul). After many an internet scouring and plenty of vin( or is it ven?) diagrams I selected a 36 day journey starting and ending in Berlin. Details here: THE TOUR I booked my ... read more

Disaster has again struck our travel plans. First it was the knowledge that Burg Eltz (an uber fantastic castle in Germany) does not open for visitors until April. Now I have learned that the ferry on which we expected to cross from Italy to Croatia (Dubrovnik) does not run on the day we need it. With only a couple days until we fly out, I've got to scramble to figure out where to spend three days we cannot have in Croatia. At least it is off season and hostels will not be difficult to come by. Right now I'm thinking we backtrack into northern Italy or venture into western Austria on our way into Munich. The new possibilites for new places are exciting, but, hot damn!, I wanted to see Dubrovnik. (check out pictures online and ... read more

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. ~Mark Twain What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds. When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road. ~William Least Heat Moon, Blue Highways The traveler is active; he goes strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing." ~Daniel J. Boorstin ... read more
