Had a bit of a sleep in today, we needed to be at the coach by 9am to get it into South Beach. I really wanted to go Parasailing today, but the lingering storm clouds meant that the parasailing was shut for the day. Tom and I just walked along South Beach for a bit, before we headed to Miami Ink. Unfortunately it wasn't open yet, so we just took photos outside. Apparently later on Yoji and Darren were working, so I wish I had have gone back. After a photo op we headed to the Holocaust Memorial, which I was really looking forward to. Since going to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria I have been interested in the events surrouning the Holocaust, so this was a natural stop for me. Unfortunately the monument had ... read more

Today was a pretty short drive. Stopped at Walmart for about 20 mins and we arrived in Miami around 12.30pm. I had a speedboat tour booked at 2pm so I had time to grab a bite to eat. Pat, Mo and I decided to try some Cuban food. I ordered the Cuban Specialty Platter, which was a mix of fried pork, rice and beans, fried plantain and cassava. The pork was a bit dry, and the cassava had a really strange texture, but the rice and the plantain were good, which is weird because plantain it related to banana, which I absolutely hate. Mo ordered a Cuban coffee, which I got to taste. It was really nice, so I'll definiitely have to have another while I'm here. We headed to the speedboat at 2pm. Once we ... read more

Leave it to me to find a mall wherever I go. :D But on a more serious and formal note, I am currently sitting in Miami international airport. Even though we met at ohare at 6, we somehow managed to miss the flight. It tooke nearly two hours to get theough secirity. One girl forgot her passport, so she has to go home to get it and fly by herself tomorrow. The first flight wasnt so bad, but the lady next to me was really rude and was leaning over and into my seat. She kept pushing me off the arm rest. We landed here 11:30 Miami time and the flight to san Jose takes off at 345. So I'm sitting here at terminal D-15 for the next hour. But on the bright side, negotiate to ... read more

I am really looking forward to our 2012 trips.....we wiill travel to Romania to see Dracula with a stop in Paris, and then 2 1/2 weeks in Iceland and Greenland this summer for whales, icebergs, geysers, volcanos, and a whole bunch of cool things. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ But this entry is for my year in miami. It was a great year. I went to the Aquarium early in the year with Daddy's medical school friend, Aran, and his family. I had a lot of fun with his daughter, Orli. Okay - so where did the last 7 days go? Turns out the ships internet connection and my IPAD didnt get along. Wno knew? Well Day 2 was fine. Getting to the ship and settled in for the week long conference was going great...then night time hit and the ship was rockin and rollin...and so was I. I've been on the seas for over 15 years and this is the 2nd time that me and my bed held a close relationship. I missed the entire 1st day of the conference. Oh well. Day 3 was great - getting into the mix and feeling fine...except when I laughed. Thats when my tummy muscles decided to remind me about last night. We did a mix of presntations and some corporate round tables. We arrived a little late in ... read more

When doing a road trip, is Miami worth it? I won’t lie I wasn’t up for it but since I was pretty much doing whatever I wanted and Robert Parish didn’t really care as long as we went to Miami I figured I probably should. So 16 hours south we drive and when finished 14 hours west to New Orleans we go. I knew the strains of driving from a few weeks earlier when doing the South Dakota and back trip. I’d have to say this drive did kill our spirits to party hard soon after. At this point we were something like 21 from 24 nights of hard drinking. Two of those off nights we had a couple of beers and thought it’s not worth continuing, nothings on. From Nashville we legged it to Athens ... read more

And so I got to Miami. Well, Fort Lauderdale. Because that's where Matt was coming to pick me up; another one of my good internet friends. We had quite a plan for the next few days of my stay here. Matt drove me to Miami Beach, where my hostel was located. We had a walk around and had some pizza, then it was time for me to check in. Matt decided he was going to spend two days here as well, from tomorrow. So we just hung out, and drove around. I was quite tired though, due to lack of sleep of course, so we called the day short and I went to sleep at my hostel. A very early sleep it was, I woke up at around 9pm and went out to have dinner, then ... read more

... read more
