Por tercera vez en el año fuimos a Miami, ahora si a visitar a mis papás y puramente "de vacaciones". Aprovechamos el puente del 20 de noviembre (que en realidad fue el 16) para no volarnos muchos días de trabajo. En el viaje nos acompañó Bertha. So the mystery of the weird flight connections is solved. We got on the plane in Guyaquil, got off it in Quito for 1/2 hour and got back on the same plane (but in different seats) for the flight to Miami. I still think it's weird, and even weirder that it had 2 different flight numbers, but since I'm here now, I'm not going to complain. The flight from Guyaquil to Quito is only 30 minutes, so it's 10 minutes ascending, 10 minutes cruising and 10 minutes descending. As most of you know, I am not a morning person. So why did I book myself on an 11 am flight from NY to Miami out of Newark? Honestly, I don't know. But I do know that I got myself out of bed at 3 am to head into the city to catch the NJ transit train to the airport. Since it was a 11 am flight, I wanted to be at the airport by 7:30. So, this morning I decide to charge my iPod before the long day at the airport and guess what? I have my cable, but forgot the adapter.... sigh..... Hopefully I'll be able to pick up another at the airport today. Miami to Cocoa Beach - 41°c After such a big night out last night, I wasn’t particularly thrilled to hear my alarm going off at 7am this morning, but nevertheless got up, picked up my suitcase that I thankfully packed last night, and headed down to another buffet breakfast. After very little sleep, got up and ad some toast.. then got on the 9.30am bus into South Beach. Headed straight into the water... really nice - it was pretty warm! Stayed in for ages... stayed in too even when it started raining. Then all of a sudden we looked out further into sea and saw a tornado!!! It was ages away and looked tiny but it was still pretty cool!! Got out of the water with nothing to dry ourselves because our towels were soaking!!! Miami - 40°c After a good night’s rest, which helped a lot, I woke up this morning not feeling too bad, but still with a cough, sore throat and a blocked nose. I dosed myself up on the medication I bought in the hotel gift shop last night before I went to bed, and headed down to breakfast. It was probably the best breakfast of the trip so far, with a buffet of eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, pastries, cheeses, hams, cereals and fruit. 7.30 bags to coach! Had a couple of stops again, one was at a place called the Dolphin Mall. Huge! Went into a discount Disney shop, and i found a pillow - which seconds as an Eeyore stuffed toy! Soo cute. It was originally $24.95, reduced to $6.99. I couldn't resist! Also found a pressie for someone... Not telling who or what it is! Got to the Everglades, which I was under the false impression it must have been some kind of rain forest or something. Apparently I was mistaken - its just wetlands. Temp: 37°C We had an early start this morning, lucky we packed last night in the end as we slept in a little bit. Bags to coach was by 7:30am and we made it easily even though we only got up at 6:50. We drove for about 2 hours before stopping at a rest stop for half an hour at a place called St Lucia.
