Today we fly to Miami from San Francisco. We are up at 06:30, even though our airport shuttle does not leave until 09:10. We get packed up, I am still blogging - trying to catch -up! We go down to reception and check-out.We have a twenty minute wait for the airport shuttle. Both Di and I have chosen shorts and sandals in which to travel - could be a mistake! The weather has gone a little cooler and our feet are freezing - I think that I have frostbite in some of my toes. The San Francisco weather is a little strange, somtimes it is foggy and really cold, sometimes it is really sunny but windy and can still be a little cool, other times it is really warm - and all of these can be ... read more

Bloggen her skrives på en billig bærbar computer fra Refurb. Se flere billige computere her: www.refurb.dk - seo-fjolset :-) Torsdag d. 3. maj tog vi afsted. I dag søndag kørte vi ... read more

After a lovely week on the beach in El Salvador we headed up to Miami which proved to be the cheapest flight tickets we could get from Central America to Colombia. We only had one night in Miami but we had a great time and managed to squeeze a lot into our time there. Straight from our overnight flight from El Salvador with almost zero sleep we headed to the Miami Open Men’s Tennis Final between Andy Murray & Novak Djokovich. We did not have tickets but we thought we would give it a go and were lucky enough to find some tickets on the door. It was a beautiful day sat in the stadium with 14,000 people and a great afternoon of tennis which Djokovich won. We were sat with some Colombians and as we ... read more

Spring Break

Scuba Divers are made of many people that are tired of the usual tedious workday, followed by the nerve-racking task of driving; add all the noise pollution it instigates. That's before everything else scuba divers encounter in these fast paced times outside of scuba diving. Some scuba divers go even further by finding a career in scuba diving. Some become diving instructors themselves. They find their career in scuba diving rejuvenating compared to many other choices. Scuba diving doesn't usually start there though. It usually starts where many other's scuba diving began; with the open water course. Then they move onto the advanced course and learn much more and realize they really enjoy all that scuba diving has to offer. They see diving underwater in a whole new way, and really want to share that with ... read more

Well, after 2 grueling plane trips, I made it Miami. A couple days ago. I wasn't gonna pay for internet at the Embassy Suites, besides I was busy with other stuff going on. I had a lot of fun there, I met with the other exchange students going to Chile and Argentina. (Fun fact: Argentina is one of the largest for AFS; either recieving or "exporting"; maybe both) For the people going to Chile we sort of instantly bonded, united by the same fact we were going to the same country. There were only 6 of us also, compared to around 20 going to Argentina. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I learned some interesting facts about AFS, and Chile. The Chilean Embassy even came I believe, or the Consulate General. We were able ... read more

Had a bit of a sleep in today, we needed to be at the coach by 9am to get it into South Beach. I really wanted to go Parasailing today, but the lingering storm clouds meant that the parasailing was shut for the day. Tom and I just walked along South Beach for a bit, before we headed to Miami Ink. Unfortunately it wasn't open yet, so we just took photos outside. Apparently later on Yoji and Darren were working, so I wish I had have gone back. After a photo op we headed to the Holocaust Memorial, which I was really looking forward to. Since going to the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria I have been interested in the events surrouning the Holocaust, so this was a natural stop for me. Unfortunately the monument had ... read more

Today was a pretty short drive. Stopped at Walmart for about 20 mins and we arrived in Miami around 12.30pm. I had a speedboat tour booked at 2pm so I had time to grab a bite to eat. Pat, Mo and I decided to try some Cuban food. I ordered the Cuban Specialty Platter, which was a mix of fried pork, rice and beans, fried plantain and cassava. The pork was a bit dry, and the cassava had a really strange texture, but the rice and the plantain were good, which is weird because plantain it related to banana, which I absolutely hate. Mo ordered a Cuban coffee, which I got to taste. It was really nice, so I'll definiitely have to have another while I'm here. We headed to the speedboat at 2pm. Once we ... read more

Leave it to me to find a mall wherever I go. :D But on a more serious and formal note, I am currently sitting in Miami international airport. Even though we met at ohare at 6, we somehow managed to miss the flight. It tooke nearly two hours to get theough secirity. One girl forgot her passport, so she has to go home to get it and fly by herself tomorrow. The first flight wasnt so bad, but the lady next to me was really rude and was leaning over and into my seat. She kept pushing me off the arm rest. We landed here 11:30 Miami time and the flight to san Jose takes off at 345. So I'm sitting here at terminal D-15 for the next hour. But on the bright side, negotiate to ... read more
