(Florida Bible Christian School) Wednesday night the temperature “plunged” to 41 degrees. It hasn’t been that low this day since 2003. Yesterday it didn’t make it out of the 50s, and that hasn’t happened since January 18, 2006. You have to know we’re thrilled to be here while they break these records!! Usually when it starts getting colder, it’s time to move south to the next project, but we’re in Miami~~we’ve pretty much exhausted our possiblities! I’m not expecting you all to send your condolences, but we haven&rs [View Full Entry]

(Florida Bible Christian School) Our tour worked out better this week~~I can’t say it was more fun, but it worked according to plan! We went to Billie Swamp Safari~~a 2200 acre natural wildlife preserve. We took a swamp buggy ride through it, and we were able to view many different kinds of animals, many of which I didn’t get the name of, because our driver had a very enthusiastic southern accent. With this being the dry season, we didn’t see as much as we would have if it was June through November (also called hurricane season.) It was interesting, though, and [View Full Entry]

So here I am, stuck in Miami, on my way to Ecuador. The flight from Anchorage to Seattle was fine. Then the problems started. We were delayed for almost an hour because there was fog. Seattle is having a lot of weather problems recently! It used to almost never have any! So we left almost an hour late. I had 35 minuted inbetween flights in Chicago. Problem. So while we were waiting to take off I got myself rebooked on a later flight from Chicago and then a flight from Miami to Quito the next day. I ended up getting to [View Full Entry]

(Florida Bible Christian School) Bob and I drove to Key West Saturday, to sights that were spectacular. It’s only 175 miles from here, but it’s a long, breathtakingly beautiful drive. The islands are connected by bridges, of course, but some of them are only wide enough for the bridge itself, and a strip of land on either side. Everywhere you look are these tiny islands…I’m looking out into the ocean, and there are islands! I can’t explain how strange it looked! It was like someone had drawn them in the ocean where they didn’t belong! (The Florid [View Full Entry]

(Florida Bible Christian School) Wow it’s been a long time since I’ve posted…but I have good reasons. We’re in Miami, and it’s been in the high 70’s or low 80’s every day. And we’re only ten miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Are those good reasons, or not?! But let me back up a bit. Last time I wrote we were still outside of Fort Meyers; a couple days before we were to leave, we got a call from Wanda, (Dave and Wanda, leaders from last winter) just calling to see when we planned to arrive at the new project. I [View Full Entry]

Our trip to Southern Florida was planned far less in advance than most of our other trips usually are. In fact, it was on quite a whim that we decided to come visit this area. I had received a good deal on a ticket voucher through my Delta Skymiles account. Having visited warm Puerto Vallarta, Mexico the previous January, I thought it might be fun to try another sunny destination during the following January. My ticket voucher could only be applied towards a destination in the United States, so one day, I randomly asked Mike "What would you thinking about traveling [View Full Entry]
