On part ... read more

We reluctantly tore ourselves away from Orlando and started our road trip down to Miami Beach. If we thought the roads and drivers were crazy in Massachussetts then we changed our minds. They were nothing in comparison to the six lane showdown that were the highways of Miami. Those not so confident drivers steer clear! Miami is definately a place for the loud and proud. If you've got it, flaunt it here. If you dont then it seems they wonder why bother to come in the first place. Miami Beach in particular was focussed on the flash and bling and the motto is being seen to be seen. The party scene here was good but overpriced for what was on offer. The accommodation was very dated and definately trying to hang onto that art deco era ... read more

At the Miami airport, waiting for my next flight... it is 8 30 here, my flight leaves in 2 hours. Getting pretty excited however all I want to do is sleep as the red-eye from Seattle-Miami was not very comfortable (I did get an exit row seat, but it was a middle). Keep checking in for some photos from Tamarindo, most likely within the next 24 hours depending on if I get internet in my room.... read more

The last days in La Paz The last two days in La Paz went a bit slower than normally. When you are soon going home you don't really do much other than wait. I had a few things to do though; buying a hammock and wash some clothes a was going to give to Sergio. In the end we had actually a big plastic bag of stuff for him. Some of it Sergio can give to other people he knows in the mountains. He normally collect the clothes of his daughters as well, when they grow out of them, and give it to his friends who are living close to Illimani or Condoriri for example. On Friday we invited Sergio out for a meal again, and this time he's family as well. And he showed up ... read more

As soon as I landed at the Miami International Airport (MIA), I had only one thing in my mind: Cuban food! Well, I really didn't need to go hunt for it in the airport, I had plenty of options as I perused the airport directory -- hey, I am in Little Cuba afterall! I had picadillo (different from the picadillo I grew up eating in the Philippines), arroz amarillo (yellow rice), fried plantain (super yummy!), an empanada, and guava pastry (something new for me to try! yay!). Brazilian Food at North Beach When Maret has finally arrived in MIA, we took a cab going east to North Beach. After checking in at our hotel, we left our luggage so we could immediately head out for dinner. We had an authentic Brazilian dinner where I had my ... read more

It is with mixed emotions that I write this blog. On one hand, we are bummed to leave the islands. We have truly loved this life, living on the boat and sailing throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean. We have certainly seen some amazing things and met some wonderful people along the way, and every day is an adventure. There is also a slower pace out here in the islands which allow you to reflect on what is important in your life and connect with nature. And every island is beautiful. We have loved all the different anchorages and beaches and cultures everywhere we go and it has been so much fun to explore it all. So I am sad to leave this lifestyle behind. But on the other hand, I am also very excited to ... read more

Two states is a great way to celebrate getting another year older so I feel fortunate being here. Vegas for me comes alive especially on holloween. We just love it! After having seen Vegas for the second time, we decided to venture in to the sunny and posh side of Miami for a few days. We were lucky to get a blue convertible mustang which we road around 'Ocean drive' and blended in with the rich locals this area. I especially love the basketball show that we watch for my bday. It was Miami heat vs Knicks. Hanging out in the beaches was awesome followed by great food and amazing night life. After Miami, we drove 5 hours to Key West, Florida. The sceneries along the way was phenomenal and with the car roof open, it ... read more
