Hey everybody, Ryan and I are about to begin our world travels and we are both pretty stoked about it! I'll give you a little background as to why we decided to take this trip. After a trip to Fiji last summer, we both decided to make a trip of epic proportions. In Fiji, which was my first ever real international trip outside of North America, I had an awesome time meeting all types of people and learning about the culture there. I found these to be major influences in deciding to travel again. Another major factor was a bit more humbling. The realization that, although the US is a large and very influential country in the world, it's really just a small part of it. The fact that Ryan and I had the opportunity to ... read more

Easter long weekend 2007 we drove the 7 hours up the coast from LA to San Francisco. Definitely our favourite US city so far it had a bit of everything. Downtown reminds us of Melbourne with the trams etc but much bigger and better in a London (great shopping)crossed with New York (fire escapes on buildings & hotel porters hailing yellow cabs) kinda way. There are steep hills everywhere like you see in all the "cop TV shows & movies" with the down hill car chases which were very scary to drive down & up at first. But the great thing about all the hills is that everywhere you go you can see the water that surrounds the city which looks like Sydney Harbour with all the sail boats etc. Also all over the San Francisco ... read more

Today is the Day The last day of work ! Today we head to the SanFrancisco Airport for our 21 hour extreme REDEYE to Bangkok and a 2 hour ride to Pattaya where we will be checking in to the Poseidon Hotel. Hopfully we got some sleep on the flight so we can join in on the songkron festival which will be in full swing. I will do my best to keep the blog updated throughout the next 3 weeks, most likely it will be updated as we change locations. And at least every couple of days or so in the longer stay locations like Koh Samui. Thailand Trip 2007 Route Map... read more

Got here on Friday 6th. the weather has not been that great until now. Yalda has got me an apartment, right by the beach. Drinking beer and eating Gheime and chelo kabab by the pool. I have been to Bevely Hills, and Santa Monica. Saw Owen Wilson and his brother in club in Santa Monica. Celebrities are everywhere here and not too difficult to spot them from time to time. In Beverly Hills, saw bunch of people making movies...tried to participate, but had difficulties getting close to the camera view...:)... read more

I arrived in Los Angeles around noon and my friend Owen picked me up at the airport. We went to his apartment which he shares with my good friend Courtenay. I took a nap, fiddled aound on the computer and then we picked Courtenay up from work and headed to a party in Orange County. All the girls were blonde and talked about how they wanted plastic surgery - which was funny because I learned where the stereotype comes from! But everyone was really friendly and nice. Just got home around 3 a.m. and looking forward to going to sleep, but finding it difficult with my imposing journey ahead of me. HOLY SHIT. I'm going to Thailand!!!!... read more

Arrived in San Fransico on Sunday and checked into the first youth hostel I found in a guide, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Its really close to everything and the staff here are really friendly. Staying in a dorm with 2 other guys. One is from Sweden and the other from San Diego and are both cool. The day I checked in a couple of the girls that work here invited me for a beer and then offered to take me on a tour of SF with one of her mates that was visiting from Brighton. Had an excellent day going around loads of areas I would not have seen on a tour. One of their brothers works on a ferry that takes you across the bay so we got on that ... read more

Ithaca When you set out on your journey to Ithaca, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge. The Lestrygonians, the Cyclops, the angry Posiedon - do not fear them. You will never find such as these on your path, if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine emotion emotion touches your spirit and your body. The Lestrygonians, the Cyclops, and fierce Posiedon you will never encounter, if you do not carry them within your soul, if your soul does not set them up before you. Pray that the road is long. That the summer mornings are many, when, with such pleasure, with such joy you will enter ports seen for the first time. Stop at Phonecian markets, and purchase fine merchandise, mother-of-pearl, coral, amber, and ebony, and sensual perfumes of ... read more

Hi All!!! First stop: San Francisco. First thought: Oh my god...look at those hills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were in San Francisco for 6 days and stayed at USA Hostels which was a few blocks from Union Square. The hostel was ok, not great, but not horrible (which is always good!). The actual city and the houses are like nowhere else I've seen. They are so cute, and you see the typical houses on postcards, movies etc., but there are actually heaps of different styles all mingled together. They're all so pretty, and apparently worth a pretty penny too! The hills...oh my god, the hills!!! I would never imagine a city where people are supposed to walk around, could have hills quite that steep! They need the signs they have for thrill rides at the bottom warning people ... read more
