A zoccolo is the main plaza or square in a town/city . The flight went well . I had gotten a cheap ticket on line @100 Canadian and had some anxiety when I realized the name on the ticket was not written the same as on my passport ... Benjamin at the hostel was so kind trying to sort it out by phone and later checking me in online. He was such a sweet heart ! My time in Mexico city was good . I am pleased that I was able to see new things and revisit some that I had missed the first time I was there . Morelia did not disappoint . It is very justifiably on the UNESCO heritage list . I am glad I got there this time . I think that ... read more

I didn't mean to mislead...I didn't go home for Christmas I came to the beach ! I arrived here on Christmas Eve wearing a bright red shirt like Santa ! My brother picked me up at the airport in PV and I have been housesitting for a friend and spending time with Roger and Carole who live in/at the next cove/town . After all the clouds we had in December , and November for that matter , being in the sun has been great . So have the daily walks on the beach and the occasional dip in the ocean or in the pool . I have acquired more freckles and less red in my hair so it must be time to go home . I shall post some photos soon and would love to hear ... read more

Thursday, 26 January. We’ve spent the past four days in Rincon de Guayabitos’s Paraiso del Pescador trailer park. This small, immaculately clean, attractive park is constantly full of regulars who winter here every year. They are like a large family – everybody knows everybody. We only got a space because the folks who occupied our site had to return home for emergency reasons the day we pulled in. Almost all of the “residents” are Canadian. There are only a couple of other Americans. Everybody is friendly and made us welcome. Each evening at 5:00 we gather on the large patio area overlooking the beach where everybody places their chair in a circle, women on one side, men on the other and play In The Box, a dice game where players chip in one peso each (about ... read more

Okay, I may have landed in paradise. I had read about this RV spot is another post and I really wanted to check it out. Ray and Marsha were already here, so we knew things were crowded. We were able to get the last spot at Villas El Dorado. It is primarily bungalows, but they have 4 RV sites. There is a wrought iron gate over the entry, so large RV´s cannot make it in. We have a beautiful campsite. The hotel and property are gorgeous. We spend the afternoons sitting out on the patio right by the beach. The beaches are spotless. There are numerous vendors. I got up yesterday morning and went down to the beach to buy fish. I was able to buy fresh dorado. They cleaned and filleted the fish. I bought ... read more

We are in Mexico still and spent a couple of nights at a wonderful RV park Celestino, cheap, nice, relaxing. We drove further after that, and spent a night in Teacupland wich was free, and beautiful, but buggy. We had a wonderful idea of going to check the waves in the morning at a beach down the road. Unforutunatly we drove a bit to close to the beach, where we thought was grass, and sank into the sand...... yep we were stuck. We happened to see a bc plate truck drive by and asked if he could help. He got a local farmer to come and tow us out of the sand........ for a low price of 200 pesos. If the farmer had not come, we would definatly still be there. Last night we got another ... read more

It's been awhile! We are doing our usual lazy wintering in LaPenita. Had a great trip down with the caravan. Larry and I were Leaders of a group of about 5 rigs. A hard job. Going to slow for some, going too fast for others, lots of Mexican sign posts either gone or overgrown with weeds. Anyway, we made it with just a couple of group turn arounds. Our longest rig was I guess about 60 feet including tow car so no mean feat!! The weather has been hot and humid everyday. Around 30 - 32 C everyday and might drop to 25 at night. Humidity around 75 - 95 lots of days. We certainly don't have to work in this weather so how bad can it be. Sit on our deck reading with a huge ... read more

Hi Friends and Family, We have finally got internet access on the last day of our holiday in Mexico. We have had a fabulous time whale watching, sun-tanning, snorkeling, boogie boarding and hiking around Nayarit, Mexico. We have met lots of great people and Steven got his money´s worth of alcohol at the all-inclusive bar. We have all been enjoying guacamole, fajitas, giant prawns, and even some grade A Alberta beef at the local hangout - Tequila Willy's. We have been to tourist markets, local markets, five beaches and one island destination. All in all, a great trip. I will post the photos when I get back home..... The photos have been posted. Our Hotel is Decameron Los Cocos in Rincon de Guayabitos, Riviera Nayarit. While it was only a 3-star resort, it was much better ... read more

It's almost over. What a wonderful winter!! The park is emptying out quickly. Our Street of Dreams usually has 13 rigs on it and now there are just James and Karen and us. It is time to empty the basement and vacuum, sort and rearrange our 'stuff'. We don't have alot of stuff like some people. In the fall when our neighbours are going to empty their bodegas (storage lockers) and setting up their patios etc, Larry and I are backing in, putting out the awning, setting up our chairs and making a marguerita. Thats the way we like it and work hard at not collecting way too much stuff. We still love our little home on wheel. We have a small unit compared to so many in the park but big enough for us. There ... read more

We arrived back home to our “Mansion on Wheels” or our mini home in LaPenita on Jan 14th and it was a wonderful feeling. It is amazing how close you can get to people that were strangers just a few months ago but you get 240 people living a rabbit warren (if that’s a word) what can you expect. You know each other pretty well. Our wonderful friend, James was at the airport waiting for us. We drove up to LaPenita from Puerto Vallarta, dropped our stuff here and then we jumped in our truck and drove John and Sharie to their accommodation in Chacala. Chacala is about a 20 minute drive from here. A very small town with a few restaurants, a couple of tiny stores and a beautiful beach. I think it was a ... read more

Off the beaten path along the coast of the state Nayarit is full of wonderous surprises, from hot springs to pertroglthes which are over 500 years old..... to sucluded beaches miles long with only a few people. We have had to pleasure of meeting some wonderful people that have been generous enough to share the hidden secrets down the dirt roads off the hwy and away from the tourist towns. Our first stop is the Punta Raza 1 which is a look out point past Los Ayalas south of Rincon de Guayabitos ,our tour guides for this trip where Jacquie and Dave. We drove to Los Ayalas to the start of the trail and hiked up to the point about 2km's through the jungle on a fairly well used trail. The palms and other vegation towering over ... read more
