Off the beaten path along the coast of the state Nayarit is full of wonderous surprises, from hot springs to pertroglthes which are over 500 years old..... to sucluded beaches miles long with only a few people. We have had to pleasure of meeting some wonderful people that have been generous enough to share the hidden secrets down the dirt roads off the hwy and away from the tourist towns. Our first stop is the Punta Raza 1 which is a look out point past Los Ayalas south of Rincon de Guayabitos ,our tour guides for this trip where Jacquie and Dave. We drove to Los Ayalas to the start of the trail and hiked up to the point about 2km's through the jungle on a fairly well used trail. The palms and other vegation towering over ... read more

Left Mazatlan on the 13th Of January... Lost track of time , we where suppose to leave on the 12th ...Too funny, didn't realize it till the RV park attendant came to ask if we were going to leave or not? Took the advice of a fellow traveller on the route along the coast instead of the inland route. It took us the entire day to go about 400km's , the road is about 8feet wide with no shoulder and the ever thicking jungle as we got closesr to the water grew right to the edge of the road and grew about 15 to 20 feet straight up. groomed by the passing vechiles and our minnie is around 10 ft 7inches wide , so needless to say when any thing of size ie buses and transport ... read more

Pam and I have done a fair amount of walking the barrios of bahia kino, Alamos and Mazatlan and this is a small sample of the glorious and historical buildings that we have seen and felt. Being around such magnificent homes and buildings you begin to feel their age and the experiances that they have gone thru. Some day I would love to sit down with all of these structures and hear all the stories that they could unfold. I am sure there would be no novelist who could hold a candle to the mysteries that are buried in the paint and mortar of the past. The new buildings of Mexico could surely win hundreds of awards for design and new inovation, but they will never match the simple beauty of colonial home that is three ... read more

Seasons Greetings from Mazatlan! We would like to send the best of the holiday wishes to our family and friends at home. We are hearing of the nasty weather you are all experincing back home and thought we would send some warm pictures to you all. In hopes of lowering the goose bumps a little and warming your hearts. We went for dinner last night and meet the most wonderful young girl selling roses to the patrons, now normally we would say "no gracias" and send her on her way . This young girl touched both Jeff and I with her warm nature and smart selling technic. She walked up to our table and touched Jeffs shirt pocket in order to get him to look down and when he did she tweeked his nose, she looked at him ... read more

We traveled from Alamos on the 10th of Dec ,racking up around 526km in a day. As the Mexican holiday of Virgin of Gaudalupe lands on the 12th ,we wanted to be settled on the holiday instead of fighting traffic. We found a park on the main drag right on the ocean the Mar Rosa , but decided after one night it was too noisey being right on the Zona Dorado ( Gold zone). We found a park two blocks off the main road the San Bartolo with grass instead of sand..... LOL Never thought that I 'd ever say that I won't want to be in the sand. The park has about half and half Canadian and USA residents,we still hold the puppy award "the youngest people in the park". The first day here one ... read more

We left Kino Bay on the 3rd of Dec and traveled south to San Carlos to vist with Martin and Hilda, they are jeff's aunt and uncle who are there for a month. Had a nice dinner and spent the night on a free beach. The next morning we drove to Guaymas to stock up on staples, coffee, sugar, dry products and toilet paper all of which are less expensive and easier to find in larger centers. On to Navoja which is the turn off for Alamos which is 53km inland. We wanted to be in the RV park on the outside of town but that also ment we had to go right through the middle of town .... The narrow cobble stone streets and one way roads made this very intimidating in a 20 foot motorhome , as you can ... read more

We stopped at Nogales on Mexico side and met Anna and Edgar who were very helpful in directions and wonderful advice to help us by pass Hermisillo center and find large grocery and fuel stop. On to Bahia KIno Bay we arrived at around 3 or 4 pm and land in the best spot in the park at Islandia RV Park in old Kino Bay. With open view of the Sea of Cortez, Alcatraz Island and awsome sunsets.
