Home sweet home....
The Flamingo RV Park in Rincon de Guayabitos.
It's like parking in in someones back yard in Mexico on the beach. Surrounded by trees and birds and the sounds of the surf in the distance. Left Mazatlan on the 13th Of January... Lost track of time , we where suppose to leave on the 12th ...Too funny, didn't realize it till the RV park attendant came to ask if we were going to leave or not? Took the advice of a fellow traveller on the route along the coast instead of the inland route. It took us the entire day to go about 400km's , the road is about 8feet wide with no shoulder and the ever thicking jungle as we got closesr to the water grew right to the edge of the road and grew about 15 to 20 feet straight up. groomed by the passing vechiles and our minnie is around 10 ft 7inches wide , so needless to say when any thing of size ie buses and transport trucks came in the other direction it was a tight squeeze.
We travelled through quite afew smaller farming communities and the locals hollered hello as we passed, it's like being on your own little paraide.Way too much fun with the kids waving out heir windows and following you down the street, you have no choice but to sow down as the enterance and
Miguel
74 year old Miguel still working daily to help keep the park clean and the plants watered. He is always happy and polite and also gives most of his pay, 100 pesos a day, to the less fortunate. He doesnt own much so maybe thats why he is always happy. exits to each town have what are called TOPES speed bupms which can rock your world if your not watching for them as most are not marked!!
Arriving in Rincon de Guayabitos at about 4:30 pm didn't give us much time to find a spot to park before dark , We picked The Flamingo right on the beach and right at the beginning of the main tourist strip. With lots of shops for anything you could ask for within walking distance from the park. The park is like being in someones back yard surrounded by large trees and palms right on the beach. The folks camped here are really great and very helpful, about a half and half split of American and Canadian. You wake each morning to the sound of birds and the waves AWHHHH Sucks to be us!
The video of the band we took was playing on the side walk out front of the main plaza , there are no street lights so we did the best we could and if you can imagin the people were dancing on the side walk in front of the band. The people here love their
Shady retreat
This building is where the showers and washrooms are located in our RV park. Such a visual pleasure with the flowers and birds. music and lots of times you can find people singing or dancing while they work.
Rincon has a real strong family base , as Guadalajara is only 2 1/2 hr drive away the families come to the beach on week ends and holidays. The population doubles in this small town and the atomsphere becomes very festive.
La Penita is ony about a 20 minute walk away across a suspension bridge, on Thursdays which is market day the town fills with the local crafts from the surrounding villages that come to sell thier weirs. The streets are full of visting families from Guadalara and all the people from Rincon which makes for a extremly lively mix of sites and sounds.
The first week in Febuary brought us company from our home town for 10 days Cindy and Liz, they needed to warm up for awhile and do some fishing... Jeff Cindy and Liz chartered a panga with a center consol for four hours of deep sea fishing. They returned with the best and biggest catch they have had for sometime, Jeff 's 18 kg , Cindy at 16kg and Liz with the wopper of 20 kg Dorado
Bakery on wheels
This truck arrives Monday and Fridays to the park . served it still warm from the oven. I call it a load of trouble.... LOL . We have put the video up of Liz landing hers and will put put picks of the rest. Needless to say they had a very memeriable trip and came back tired and happy. That night we had soo much fish , that we threw a BBQ for the park and did a pot luck dinner with a live Maruba Band and all!!! Only in Mexico eah.
Side trips around here seem to plentiful , Last week we went to the natural hot springs that are about 20km's north of Rincon then about 4 m's down a fairly nice dirt road. You come into an oasis in the middle of the beautiful valley bottom sits a natural hot spring that is gravity feed into a large concrete pool about 20' x 40' . surrounded by fruit and nuts trees to supliment their income. Recent undates from pit toilets to brand new flush ones was a nice surprise. We spent the morning here then off to Playa Chacala for lunch a incredible cove on the Pacfic ocean .Our tour guides for this trip Antonio and Loriana stay in the trailer park with us have become wonderfull companions and great
Rincon beach
Facing south tdown the beach at Rincon de Guayabitos, Lots of vendors and tourists company.
The following day we are off to a site on a river about 15 km's north east of Rincon ,were we find petrogythes that are located by the Spaniards in 1524 , and no one really knows how old they are? We travelled up a trail along a creek bed for about 1 km to the main site , but there are all sorts of discovery's to be made along the way . Out tour guides for this trip are Dave and Jacquie which had been here once before and Dave and Tracey along with Jeff and myself and three dogs . It was a great day of discovery and this location really made you feel it, if you know what I mean.... The pictures will tell the rest of the story.
P.S Sorry about the delay in the publishing of this one .... got carried away with the boggie boards, surf, and lounging on the beach...
