By popular demand... Friends and family have asked why I haven't sent a blog on my Mexican travels before Christmas and I really didn't have an answer ... partly it was the lose of my photos , which were later returned to me thank goodness , and partly the CHristmas season and all the activity that goes with that . Sooooo here is a bit of a rundown of those two weeks . It started in Tulum at the Dreams Tulum Resort where a nephew was to be married to a lovely young woman from B.C. A great event with 54 people in attendance . Most had a week to lay about and enjoy the service offered at a 1st class all-inclusive resort . Good food , beach , bar , company and a variety of ... read more
I do believe the 60th celebrations are coming to an end...maybe... This round had to meet the following criteria . Easily accessible , affordable , beach , sunshine , all inclusive and manageable with Shirley's work schedule. Riu Emerald Bay in Nuevo Mazatlan fit the bill . Leaving at 8 am on Feb 25 it was -39C and arriving at the hotel at 2pm that afternoon to a welcoming shot of Tequilla and +27C was a great start . Our room was on the 9th floor with a great balcony perfectly placed for watching the sunset . It reminded me of the view in Netanya last year. We enjoyed the beach and 2 trips into Mazatlan . To the street market on Sunday and into Viego Mazatlan on Wednesday . We DID check with hotel personal ... read more
Surprise...given that I was having one of those significant birthday's my cousin/friend suggested doing something completely different to celebrate this one . A "holiday" as opposed to travelling , an all inclusive instead of a hostel and one week instead of 8...truly decadent soaking up sunshine on a fantastic beach . It was great! The first few days we were dedicated to the beach and the sunshine and a wide variety of rum drinks . The food was plentiful although not very imaginative and the staff was there to make our stay even more pleasant . We then went into Havana for 2days and enjoyed seeing that grand OLD Spanish city . I can easily see spending more time there and in the country also . We then returned to the beach for 2 more days ... read more
This is the last one ! Jerusalem is definately a place to add to your list of places to see . I really enjoyed my time there . I met some very interesting people , had fascinating walks , great food , spiritual experiences , and developed a greater appreciation for the past . A reminder to clip on to the photos to enlarge them and see details . Until the next journey.... read more
Lord where do I begin...I have 1400 pics taken in the month I was in Israel. It is a beautiful and an interesting country . For my hard copies I created 2 albums ... Israel and Jerusalem ...I think a sample of each will finish off this Journey's Blog. I hope you enjoy this group .... read more
Again I will share images of my journey . I liked Jordan . It is not as aggressive as Egypt and it is also much calmer in all ways . There were women around walking , working and shopping . They wore headscarves but I saw very few covered faces .The south is desert of course but the north is agricultural . It has been a land desired by many over the years and has some pretty awesome ruins ...Roman ,Ottoman and Crusader... Enjoy these photos ( if you click on them they will enlarge for better detail ) and let me know if you would like me to keep you on the mailing list .... read more
