It has come to an end and I must say that I have enjoyed and been awed by Alaska. The mountains and glaciers are spectacular and the wildlife and flowers are beautiful .I will send photos from home. Travelling in an RV was great. We took advantage of the ability to pull over for lunch or site-seeing or even sleeping whenever we chose.At one state park it was only us and the ranger! Alaska truly is a beautiful place . The driving has been surprisingly easy although it is slow . The permafrost makes for some waviness in the roadbed and the RV rattles as we roll along. About that , we booked a 22ft Class C without a generator and were upgraded to a 24ft with a generator ... which we have not had reason to use so far. It has 3 beds and the roomette at the back is mine . Although it is the coolest it suits me fine. We are really enjoying this way of travelling. Stopping for lunch or [View Full Entry]

The sea is rocking and rolling a little tonight. We are in the open sea at the moment and it is neat...I am walking as though I am a little inebriated ... and I might well be .Supper was a formal occasion and I started with a glass of scotch before a meal of lobster washed down with a good red wine...and then there was the chocolate! Just returned from a 4 hour train ride through to the White Pass ...over the hill and on to the gold of the Yukon. It reaches nearly 3000ft and the views truly are spectacular. I suspect that this will be as high as I'll get on this trip . Mountains truly are awesome. A day or to ago sailing through an arrea of the Inside Passage Suzanne and I sat in an outdoor hottube on the 12 deck and enjoyed watching the sky line change. And so it begins. The flight to Vancouver was uneventful although I did see some wonderful clouds .I will try to upload some photos at another time. The computer on the ship is $0.75/minute which is robbery by my calculations. I will check out internet cafe's on our stops. We spent out time in Van walking. ...the seawall ,through Stanly Park to English Bay and then in and out of various neighbourhoods.
