Travel Blog for August 1st: Today is our final day in Madrid with Deanna, Jesús, and the kids. Deanna drove us into Pozuelo (the suburb they live in) to get school shoes for the kids and haircuts for Lillie and me. Lots of hair dye in the shop, and lots of women having their hair dyed. All ages. I’ve never seen so many tubes of hair color in one spot. I suppose in U.S. salons the dye tubes are just kept out of sight. We went home and Lillie and I spent much of the time packing for train ride to Paris. We said goodbye to Deanna and the kids, and Chus drove us to Chamartin Station where we caught our train for Bilbao, and then transferred to the French train to Paris. The overnight train ... read more

I found out last Tuesday that I need to go to London for meetings which were for Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily there is a direct flight from Waterford to Luton Airport in London. This is so much easier than having to drive across Ireland to fly out. I flew out early Wednesday morning from the tiny Waterford Airport. The airport consists of 1 gate. My short/long term parking spot was 50 feet from the door. All they have is turbo props that hold about 30 people. I arrived in London and took the subway (the Tube) to my meeting. I spent the rest of Wednesday in meetings and didn’t finish until later Wednesday evening. After that I had a ton of work to do so I didn’t have time to sightsee. I’ve been to London a ... read more

Hi Everyone Here it is…. the much anticipated first BLOG entry!!! ‘Anticipated’ not really for the fascinating stories I will be telling (hopefully), but mainly because most of you didn’t know what a BLOG was in the first place (mentioning no names Kathy, Iris and Lorraine). I sound as if I know what I’m talking about, but its all new to me as well I’m afraid, hence this little tester entry to make sure I can get through to you all (thought you’d got rid of me didn’t you)! Firstly, I hope I haven’t missed anybody out on the “BLOG register” if I have and you hear about it, let me know and I’ll include them straight away, although you can access any messages I write through the internet anyway! This BLOG is simply here ... read more

Yesterday I arrived by train into Rennes. I was quickly swept up by my distributor and we headed off to her offices. We had a good meeting and then we went to see some sights and the sea. We visited a pirate city called Saint-Malo. It is walled in and is quite beatiful. I have a few photos of myself and I look a little wore out but I have a slight cold and was on a train for 5 hours. After this little excursion she returned me to my hotel and I was left to fend for myself for dinner. It was a already 8pm and I really think she should have fed me. What are you going to do? Today I caught a plane and I am staying in Lyndhurst, Great Britain. I ... read more

Heeeeeeeee....here I am/once again..la la la...I came back home 2 weeks ago and barely now I decided to post some photos and some fresh impressions. Everybody is asking me nowadays "How was it? What did you like more? Is it better than your country? Where are you leaving next? How do you feel now?" etc etc etc..what can you answer and how fast can you be in order to satisfy all the needs of your friends?! Well, last time I was here was December 2006 and now is August 2007, so imagine what a huge lap in time and space. I feel strange, I cannot say "alone" because at least one person is calling me every day in order to get out and chat. I've received invitations to discos, bars, cafes, picnics, mountains, seaside and ... read more

Geo: 52.26, 21.02Am really surprised by how nice Warsaw is, old town is lovely and as it was bombed to rubble (like even the cobble stones were shattered) in WWII they have made an amazing reconstruction job of it. It just looks old but sand-blasted. So to get there we had to go past the palace of culture (the Russian 7 sister look a like) & go down Marzalkowska past H&M shops and the like & then up Krakowskie Przedmiesuc til we got to the Copernicus monument & Holy Cross Church and onto Stare Miasto and Plac Zamkowy that has a castle marking start of old town which itself is all pedestriaised with lots of nice cafes and bars. Was a lovely day so had lunch outdoors in old town sq. in Jacekiplacek creperie.Later we found ... read more

It has been about a week since I got home from the study tour. Immediately I started pouring my time into the studio. On average I spent about 9 hours there every day since July 21st. During the first weekend I was trying to refine my 'X' concept and make it more sturdy and 'possible' to fabricate since that was the issue when I first presented it. The X frame under the seat became 3 or 4 legs (I went back and forth through many different configurations) and the seat became more of a chevron shape. Feedback from Monday resulted in technical alterations. Tuesdays critique resulted in proportional adjustments. Wednesday I was feeling my chair was pretty refined and ready to be drawn in 1:1 scale. (1:1 scale working drawings were due yesterday, July 30th.) ... read more
