Saturday 1/23 I started my trip in Kansas City and flew to Houston for a few hour layover. I boarded the 14 hour Emirates flight from Houston to Dubai. I had a window seat and the seat next to me empty - thank God! Several of the people on the flight would belch out loud during their dinner. I assume this is customary in a middle eastern country - not sure though. If you ever have a chance to fly Emirates - do so. The airline was awesome, plenty of entertainment, free booze, good food and nice lighting. It made the 14 hour flight go by fairly quick. After a 7 hour (yes, 7 hour) layover in Dubai, I boarded my 5 hour flight to Colombo. I passed the long layover in Dubai by hanging out ... read more

5/30 - We left Santiago and flew to Buenos Aires. We were able to get an earlier flight so we landed around 10:00 pm local time. We landed it was rainy and cool and our driver brought us straight to our hotel. Our hotel was downtown directly on the widest boulevard in the world which I believe was 7 lanes wide each way. The crossing signals needed to be longer unless you are an trained sprinter (which as you can see, I am not). 5/31 - We had the entire day on our own without any planned activities. I used this prime oppurtunity to sleep in! After a quick breakfast at the hotel, we went exploring. We found a mall that was in a tourist area. The girls went shopping and I walked around the town ... read more

5/26 I left off my last travel blog in Cusco. That morning we got up and explored a few museums in Cusco. Nothing too spectacular but I was able to find a really bad pair of sunglasses that take up half my face. You will se that in many more pictures to come. We left Cusco that afternoon and flew to Lima then to Santiago. After a long layover in Lima, we boarded our flight to Santiago. I did, however, find cerviche before I left the Lima airport. This is raw fish marinated in lime sauce which I liked very much. The flight to Santiago was good and I really like LAN airlines. They beat all US carriers any day of the week. We arrived late at night, was greeted by our driver Fernando, and were ... read more

5/21 We left Kansas City and flew to Lima via Houston. The flight to Lima wasn't too long and painful. Peru makes you fill out 3 different documents with a lot of questions and then an additional health document. I felt like I was applying for Pervuian citizenship. After going through customs and immigration we were supposed to meet our tour guide outside of customs. We entered the Lima airport with about 100 signs waiting for a pickup - none of which held our names. We waited for about 30 mintues and then started looking around for our names again. After about an hour we found our tour guide who was actually waiting for us for an hour. I guessed we missed our sign. I felt really bad for them waiting for so long, but we ... read more

We boarded our 8 hour flight from Tokyo to Bangkok. We had personal TVs again so it made the flight go by a little faster. I slept most of the way over. We exited our plane on to a jetway where we had to take a bus. At midnight the temperature was 85 degrees and muggy. From my little research I learned that Thailand enjoys 3 distinct seasons - cool, hot and rainy. What they mean to say is hot, hot as hell and rainy. We are visiting on the end of cool season and the beginning of the hot season. I knew I was in a for a treat. Patty’s mom met us at the airport with a large contingent of family and friends. Everyone exchanged hellos and then we headed to the condo. Patty’s ... read more

My first trip to Asia - I started my trip with a 6:30 am flight from KC to Minneapolis. Since I used airline miles to pay for my flight, I didn’t get the chance to pick my route. I went Minneapolis, Portland then to Tokyo. The flights were actually really nice and the planes were ½ full. I got my own TV from Portland to Tokyo so that kept me entertained for my never ending flight. I landed at 6:00 pm Monday evening. I had to meet Patty, Stu and Jess at the hotel which was no where near the airport. I took the train from Narita to downtown Tokyo. From there I switched trains and went on the local subway to the hotel stop. From there, I walked to the hotel. It took me about ... read more

I left off from my last travel blog ready to spend my last weekend in Ireland. On Thursday Ray, my co-worker, took me out to play golf. Let me set the background of my golf game. I really like playing but I am awful. My idea of a good time on the golf course is driving the cart, drinking a few beers and enjoying the time with my friends outdoors. I cheat a lot and sometimes don’t keep the score. The 3 guys I was playing with all have a handicap between 10 - 15. I didn’t even know what a handicap was until this year. For those who don’t know what a handicap is - let’s just say they are very good. Needless to say I was in for a disaster. I started terrible mainly ... read more

My trip: Waterford - Kansas City- New Orleans - Gulf Shores - Kansas City- Shannon - Dublin - Paris - Dublin - Waterford Since the last update I have done some major traveling over the past 2 weeks. After spending 7 straight weeks in Europe, I flew back to the states. I was greeted at the Kansas City airport by my sister who flew in from Baton Rouge to help me celebrate my 30th birthday. That night we went to pick up Maverick (my dog). I was much more excited to see him than I think he was excited to see me. He must have moved on and completely forgot about me. I think he is having too much fun hanging out with his new playmate. On Saturday I played golf all morning and then I ... read more

When I left off of my last travel blog, I was entering the weekend of the famous Waterford Festival known as Spraoi. Everyone has hyped me up for this awesome festival that enthralls the town for the entire weekend. Let’s just say that my expectations were a little too high. The festival didn’t kick off until Saturday mid-afternoon. There were supposed to be street performs, circus acts, and bands all over the town. Everything was free so you just walk around, enjoy a beer and watch the crowds and performers. As expected, it started raining and continued to rain all day long. Waterford didn’t really have a contingency plan so most of the acts stopped for the day. I would think after the entire summer of non stop rain they would have thought of a back ... read more

I found out last Tuesday that I need to go to London for meetings which were for Wednesday and Thursday. Luckily there is a direct flight from Waterford to Luton Airport in London. This is so much easier than having to drive across Ireland to fly out. I flew out early Wednesday morning from the tiny Waterford Airport. The airport consists of 1 gate. My short/long term parking spot was 50 feet from the door. All they have is turbo props that hold about 30 people. I arrived in London and took the subway (the Tube) to my meeting. I spent the rest of Wednesday in meetings and didn’t finish until later Wednesday evening. After that I had a ton of work to do so I didn’t have time to sightsee. I’ve been to London a ... read more
