One of those easiest to move around cities. Everyone speaks English, quite well connected by subway, just that the subway is a bit lap pok. All the things we see in London have been so familiar. Some new English discovery (for me) London Bridge: it's not falling yet Fish & Chips: they aren't as good as I thought it'll be English Hi-Tea: it comes with a hi price too Theatre & Musical: the industry is so alive, so many to choose from Harrods: i love their hi class supermarket Hyde Park: so where's the speakers at the speaker's corner? Very cosmopolitan, rich in history, but I can't find much "character". Maybe I'll need more time to explore. Maybe next time. ... read more

The countdown is on - only four more nights on tour! I can’t believe it!!! We have done so much and have seen so many things so quickly that in some ways it feels like we have been gone forever…and in other ways, it feels like we just started! I’m starting to think this may have been one of the best experiences of my life! I’m so glad I did this! Seriously, the culture, the history, the people…amazing! I feel so lucky to have met so many great people! Anyway, today was a free day to roam Nice. I slept in until 9:30 and laid in bed a while. It’s nice to have a day of leisure. I can do everything or nothing…on my own! A lot of people hit up the beach and just chilled ... read more

Sun worship temple or Healing centre or Huge calendar? Since we arrived to UK Stonehenge was on top of my list of places to visit. Stonehenge is probably the most important prehistoric monument in the whole of Britain and there are not that many people that have never heard about it. It stands as a timeless monument to the people who built it. Question is who built it and how?? The Stonehenge that we see today is the final stage but it was built in 4 stages apparently. When we walked around with our audio guides we learnt that large earthwork or Henge was probably built around 3000 BC. That is long time ago ;-) Excavations have revealed cremated human bones in some of the chalk filling, but the holes themselves were probably made, not for ... read more

Sunday, August 5th - Thurso to the Isle of Skye: This was pretty much a driving day- about 240 miles I believe. We stopped every hour or less and stretched our legs and took pictures. We stopped at Betty Hill and mom and I picked out the house we were going to buy (it overlooked Torrisdale Bay). We also stopped and took pictures of Loch Eriboll. The scenery was beautiful, so between that and the fact that none of us could keep our eyes opened, the drive was over pretty quickly. We were amused that Margie would mention that we were going to be seeing beautiful scenery and to enjoy it, and then she would put “Scottish Tranquility” into the cd p... read more

When we first hopped on the bus with 50 other people our Tour Manager Kerith stood up and told us ' firstly you need to understand that this isn't a holiday, you will get grumpy, you will have long days and long nights and you will be exhausted' -that was no exaggeration at all. We headed to the Ferry at Dover and arrived in Paris at our first 'Contiki Special Stopover' in the afternoon, we were greeted with a small glass of french champagne, had some dinner and then went on a short bus tour of 'The City of Lights' with a short stop to see the Eiffel Tower at night. We learnt very quickly that Baz (bus driver) and Kez were serious about being at our meeting points on time because we left three people ... read more

I did some research, and a tun is a barrel. So this is a pub with seven beers on tap, drawn up from the barrels in the basement. I went to the Seven Tuns Pub in Chedworth recently and had the best food I have had yet, probably because it involved lots of melted brie. (Mmmm... brie...) In any case, we took a short walk to the church nearby, and it had such amazing carvings that I just had to post them. Enjoy!... read more

We set sail from the small bay to visit more islands. Anchored in a blue bay with a small beach and only a handful of houses, we stopped for lunch after taking in 2-3 hours of sun. Lunch and brief swimming and then back to resting. But the anchor lost its grip on the sea floor and we drifted. Suddenly the waves began to rock the boat and we all sat in the back deck holding on so as not to be thrown off. Sara wanted to go sit on the trampoline and almost had me convinced. But with a full stomach I couldn’t talk myself into the inevitable sea sickness it would cause, so we didn’t go. Thank goodness because it got rougher until we set up the sails. I had no idea that the ... read more
