What sound is that?! it started with a spot of fireworks in front of my apartment. After a while, you hear another one 18 deg northeast, then 198 deg southwest, then 360 deg you see fireworks everywhere through the night! It's the 4th day of the Lunar New Year. It's believed that the God of Fortune will come visit and people believed in lighting firecrackers to welcome the God of Fortune. Xintiandi has a almost 20mins of fireworks at 12midnight. Who needs to come watch Fireworks Festival? I can sit in comfort at home to catch the most extensive unorchestrated fireworks show I've seen ever. ... read more

14 December. Weather forecast reported that there will be snow-rain tomorrow. Yah right! By the time snow falls, it'll probably be water. 15 December. Someone exclaimed:"It's snowing!" My goodness! It's really snowing. I see tiny snowflakes floating outside the window. A little excited but too tiny to feel it. After lunch, Ah Yi said snow is accumlating downstairs. Really?! I eagerly went down to take a look. Cars, flowers, bushes are all coated with snow. So beautiful! Never thought it'll snow in Shanghai. That probably made it even more beautiful. Love Shanghai even more today :) ... read more

Tagged along with WL to visit her hometown, 1.5hours away from Shanghai city. Took a bus from Long Yang station and travelled to somewhere beyond Pudong airport I was told. Alighted in the middle of nowhere, absolutely nowhere. Saw some factories around, a few private cars for rental and a bridge to I dunno where. WL's mum came picked up to to 书院人家 for lunch. It's an enclave of houses with traditional Chinese architecture. Quaint and spacious, food is good but service ought to be improved. Spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Nanhui. Took a walk around the lake. A little overwhelmed with emotions as I walked behind WL and her mum holding handings, chatting happily and lovingly. Envied the the motherly-daughterly love. Missed holding mummy's hand. Afterall, WL only goes home once every other ... read more

Stayed in Ibis Myeon-dong. The location cannot be rivalled. The main Myeon-dong shopping area is just 2 mins walk away woohoo! The familiar skin care brands staring at you from all directions, Face Shop, Etude House, Skin Food, Missha, Laneige and many many more brands we don't get to see in Singapore, Holika Holika, Hanskin blah blah blah! Excited! You'll see gals dressed up in their sweet little dresses/ skirts, giving out some little samples to lure you into the shop. Once you get in, you simply can't resist grabbing something. By the end of the 4-5days, I think I bought close to a 100 pcs of the facial mask sheets, ranging from fruits flavour like grape, lemon, berries to vegetables like carrots, cucumber, to herbals like ginseng, to beans like soy, black, mungs to collagen, ... read more

Time flies...不知不觉, my 2 months stint at the World Expo has finished. It was a very apprenhensive start, from the day my big boss broke this "stressful" news to me that I'll replacing a colleague to do some comms work. Something I've no relevant experience in. But oh well, whatever falls on me, I'll just take lor, nothing to lose I guess. But after 2 months, I come to realise, it's actually a blessing in disguise! 1. Comms work is a new field to me, definitely a great exposure for me. Comes in handy to know some of the local publications and media. 2. Had fun dealing with the VIP visits, met many important figures, just to name one, MM Lee is enough to leave behind a lifelong impression. 3. The most important! I'm so so ... read more

Have to listen to this at least 3 times a day. The tune kinda grow on you... beginning to like it more and more. Never fails to give me goosebumps every the video plays. Looking at the gigantic screen with images of Singapore makes me miss home... Theme song for the Singapore Pavilion, performed by our own stars, JJ Lim, Steph Sun, Tanya & Ah Du.

On the road again... this time to China for a year. My first overseas work experience. It all started in late Aug 2009. From application, to Chinese Proficiency Test, to interviews, to waiting and waiting, to negotiation, to preparation courses, to visa application, to packing 8 cartons of shipment & 40kg of carry on baggaes and finally.... the journey begins. The idea didn't set in till the day before departure. My goodness, the idea of being alone in a faraway foreign land. No idea how I'm going to do at World Expo. Lotsa of anxiety whenever I think of having to settle so many things after arrival, accomm, visa, banking etc etc. Well, fingers crossed everything to turn out fine... Jia You! ... read more
