Kim and I stayed at 'creative youth hostel' in Barcelona. Fantastic location right next to all the major sights and La Ramba street where everything happens! The hostel itself was a bit average and we constantly got shushed because it is in an historic building and the hostel manager didnt want to upset the neighbours! I'm like.. Hello why would you put a *youth hostel in a place you need to be quiet!Barcelona was cool though. La Ramba had interesting art, street performers including breakdancers, stalls and restaurants to name a few. The beachs there were pretty average, i went for a swim but got our pretty fast whe some girls sanitary pad floated past my head.. Yuck! The sand it gritty like dirt too! But awesome walking round the viaduct and town and up Montjuic. ... read more

So some final thoughts on my trip as a whole: A question many people ask is what is my favorite country? Well seems how I was only in some countries for 3 days I have to choose my favorite places based on city/town then by country. Some of the standouts being Top 3 Lagos, Portugal Merzouga Sand Dunes, Morocco Brugge, Belgium Honarable Mention List (Harder to pick then the top 3 list) Cinque Terre, Italy Edinburgh, Scotland Gryon, Switzerland If it isn't already obvious by my list I must say I enjoy the town/small cities then the huge 1 million + pop cities. I imagine it probably has sometimes to do with growing up in a small town all my life and I'm also more drawn to adventure/nature activities. Other final thoughts Best accomodations - Chalet ... read more

So, Nikki had an awesome opportunity to go on a European cruise for practically nothing (except her plane ticket to England, where the ship left from). Her best friend since she was like 6 years old, Alyssa, works with her husband for Norwegian Cruise Lines. The cruise left out of Dover, England and spent 12 days visiting all of the capitals along the Baltic. The best part is that Germany was one of her stops! It was technically listed as Berlin, but she actually came into port in Warnemunde, about 2 hours north of Berlin. According to the GPS it was a 6 hour drive from Mannheim to Warnemunde. We couldn't find anyplace in town that was affordable so we ended up staying in Lubeck, which was along the way, a little over an hour from ... read more

With only 1 and a ½ hours drive to get to Dublin, we certainly didn’t rush around in the morning to get out of Kilkenny. Instead, we headed to the Laundromat to do some much needed washing, and took in the city centre, including some more shops. At about 10am we decided to head to the big smoke, and arrived there in good time. Our B and B had been pre-booked (thank goodness) because we soon realised something BIG was happening in Dublin this weekend - the National Gaelic Games were on - Football and Hurling!! People were flocking into the city in the thousands, wearing their favourite team colours, and what would normally have been a 20 minute trip to the airport, to return our hire car (a Vauxhall Corsa) turned into an hour long ... read more

Saturday 11th August Day Twenty-Six, Today we actually did make the journey to Berlin. We were granted a relatively dry leave from the Czech Republic and had quite a smooth journey despite a while stood still on the motorway watching the family from hell cause havoc on the hard shoulder! We arrived at our campsite in an area outside Berlin called 'Kladow'. After checking out the bar we found a lovely Italian restaurant nearby. The food was excellent and the staff were really friendly. We had a game of cards back at the site bar before bed. ... read more

11th August 2007 Bonjour Bo & Dud, The week before we left home we were both like tightly coiled springs about to ‘boing’ off in any direction at the slightest touch - if you could see us now, in complete contrast, so relaxed we’re almost horizontal. We spent last weekend following the shade of an oak tree which is in the middle of the field - temperatures got up to 35c. This included eating al fresco (with me in my cossie) and Howard found an ingenious way of keeping the wine cool and close at hand with the help of a local mole - photograph attached. We’ve done quite a lot of walking this week. We can easily walk into the village of Vernoil for bread (a 3 mile round trip), and, we are straight into ... read more

hey all! im here at my host parents house in Naantali! the first day i got here i went on a boat ride to a couple islands with my host parents, went swimming in the sea and dived off the dock near my house, and went out to eat dinner at a finnish resturaunt at the harbor. i really like naantali. it is so pretty and green. my house is only a 2 min walk from the dock where i can swim...even though is it really really cold water :) i got used to it really quickly! my room is on the second level of my house. it is kind of like a loft. really pretty and colorful. i have a window that looks out to the neighbors house and the road to the dock. i ... read more
