The beginning....... I have made decision. I need to go somewhere and that somewhere is Thailand. I will be 30 and I am sure the biological clock is going to kick in at any moment. I suspect one night I will be awoken at 2am or some other ungodly hour by the ticking getting louder and louder! Here's my story. I am 28 (and a half!). I have been with my partner for 9 (and a half) years. You can see I have a thing about halfs, counting the halfs makes me feel 5 again. We live by the sea and are not engaged, have no children or a mortgage. Ever since I have met my boyfriend he has been banging on and on about travelling the world, however now I have come around to the ... read more

After a busy day at the office Wayne and I decided to make the most of the glorious sunshine and headed to Flatford Mill. We hired a Rowing boat and headed off upstream to Dedham. We stopped on route under the shade of a tree for a picnic tea of salad and rolls yum yum. Wayne rowed us all the way to Dedham and then I took the ores and rowed back down stream to Flatford. My rowing has improved as I didn't hit the banks although didn't really row straight! It was very pretty and the sun was shining. We headed off to the gym for a work out and a swim after our row and got in tired, and after having a smoothie I headed to bed.... read more

Thursday 1st May Lovely breakfast at 6.50am (UK time, body thinks it's 2.30am!) of a cheese croissant which had clearly been in the hot cupboard for several hours!! Landed safely at 7.35am after circling London about 3 times. Quickly through passport control, wait a while for my bags - starting to think they're not coming, but they arrive (my cheap bag has not endured well, but everything still seems to be in there - I haven't checked for breakages yet... it was marked as fragile, for all the difference that made!). Straight through customs, to find that my Mum had arrived a couple of minutes before (M25 rush hour!)... so we get out of the car park within half-hour and drive to South Mimms Service for a snack before arriving home around 12. Wow, I have ... read more

Well our last two days in the Netherlands were good. Emily and I went to Amsterdam via train one day. We went to the Van Gogh museum, which was really cool. One floor was entirely dedicated to his paintings and it was in chronological order so we could see the progression of his paintings. At the beginning of his career as a painter, his paintings were very dark, with hardly any color at all. In 1886, he moved to the Montmartre area of Paris to live with his brother Theo and his brother told him that in order for his paintings to sell, he needed to add more color, so he did, and for those two years that he was in Paris, his paintings were very colorful. The most famous one that was painted then was ... read more

Christmas in England Well what can I say. England is just what you imagined, especially if you imagined the countryside like something straight from a Jane Austin novel! Absolutely stunning. But anyways, I arrived in england on the 22nd of December '07 after a 2 hour train trip to paris followed by another couple of trains to the eurostar station and then the 2 hour euro star trip followed by an hour trip from kings cross to cambridge. Lets just say I arrived knackered and laden down with all the things I'd accumulated whilst in Dijon as well as christmas and birthday presents. Once i'd met my grandparents in Cambridge we drove down to their new place, it's really cute and I don't know what grandma's going on about when she says its too small! Nonsense! ... read more
