25, November 7:45 am Today’s the start of Turkey Break! However, its 7:45 am and we’ve already encountered some problems. The morning began smoothly with the taxi arriving early, got to ElWe y in about 20 minutes and the rise cost less than 30 quid. We even ended up being 40 minutes early for our train, which for me is really good. We finally got settled onto out train when the announcement that a fallen trees was blocking the tracks and we would have to switch trains immediately if we wanted to be on time for London. A fallen tree, man-o-man! This means that we now end up at a different station in London and have to take the tube to the correct station; hopefully we don’t miss our train! 10:22 pm As you can tell ... read more

So here is my confession for the month of November on the 4th of November I was beat up by a two year old, literally. The story begins that I was leading circle time righ before lunch. Part way through a story one of the boys started to beat up on another little girl for blocking his view of the book. He is much bigger than the girl so I was worried for her and thus moved the boy out of the cirlce. I guess that upset him even more because he started hitting me with a piece of toy celery from our kitchen area. I must admit that it felt like I was getting a shot in the arm. I tried to ignore him by continuing with the story and I guess that made him ... read more

This entry is a test - just to make sure that I can cope with the complicated blogging process! Getting ready to go! Its my last day in the UK and I only finished packing last night! Managed to get everything in my rucksack but not sure how I am going to carry it around for the next 3 months! Also had a slight accident with the rucksack resulting in a egg shaped bump on my head - wont be doing that again!! Did some final booking and now have most of my accommodation in New Zealand booked. Its off to Auckland first and then making my way down and around North & South Island before flying out of Christchurch on 19th December for my Australia leg! It was then down to the pub for a ... read more

As part of my Peru training I have decided to do a bit of beach walking along the Suffolk coast.... Today I am walking from Lowestoft to Southwold... Initially I thought this would just be a good way to train however after seeing the amazing beauty of this area I can now say that I have fallen in love with this stretch of the UK. At around 4pm myself and Dee (my travel partner) set off from work to take on the 12 mile trek to Southwold. The first part of our walk took us along the Lowestoft sea front, a typical UK beach resort with golden sand and beach front B & B's.Moving from here we headed down to Pakefield, this was more interesting and for me more visually pleasing, first off the beach changed ... read more

'Ello from acorss the pond! Sorry about slacking on my blog. Anyway, its been a crazy time since Ive last written. First of all, as I was taking some of our kids on a walk to see the babies (and mind you these are supposed to be our 5 most well behaved kids). We walked past a couple of baby rooms and everything was going fine and dandy. Then all of a sudden 4 of the 5 kids dropped the rope, right as we were passing the lobby. One kids almost escaped through the door to the parking lot, one little girl went down the hall and two other kids just jumped up and down squeeling and laughing. The 5th child was a little boy who, as he saw me get upset, got upset at ... read more

So Im enjoying work more and more everyday, especially now that I am getting the hang of how my classroom works. However, I must admit that today crossed the line into crazy land. The biting was a tad less today but I did get to experience something quite funny (at least it was funny a while after it happened). Anyway, I had been at work about an hour when we went outside so the kids could run out some of the energy. Well one of the girl's mom, who works at the CDC, came out to play with her for a bit. However, she soon went back to work and Elzie had a major freakout. She started screaming and crying for her mom to come back. I went over and picked her up telling her ... read more

Well last week was a short week: 3 days but that helped to ease us into what its going to be like working at the CDC for the next three months. Thursday was actually a fun day which made it go by quickly. In the morning I found myself thrown into the 1 year old room because they were very short on staff that day. Being in the 1 yr old room room made me realize what a developmental difference there is between the 1 yr olds and the 2 yr olds. Just one year makes a huge difference. For instance I have come to appreciate that although 2 year olds still scream and hit each other they can actually respond to your questions and tell you how they are feeling or what book they want ... read more

So its true: the "Terrible 2s" do exist and man are they crazy little buggers! Now I am used to working long shifts and I am used to working with kids, just not 8 hours with 14 two year olds. Man they are very entertaining but I was exhausted after my first day. Yesterday was my first day at the centre and I was supposed to be a shadow. But of course after about an two hours I was thrown the gist of things. Actually one of the very first things I got to do was file an incident report because I was the only that witnessed one child bite another and it left a nice indentation. The kids are reaching an age where sharing is a newly encouraged action but one that is still quite ... read more

My home is in the Owl class in Ipswich where I live with lots of my friends. We have lots of fun playing and working with the children and we all enjoy travelling to lots of different places. We're going to be telling you all about the adventures that we have and all the mischief that we get up to. First I think you need to meet all my friends: *Benjamin and Emily are brother and sister bear who always travel together. They have been to lots of exciting places and particularly enjoy the seaside. Their best adventure so far was when they were employed as crew on an overseas adventure to Sweden. *Bertie Bear is a rather stay at home bear but this doesn't mean that he doesn't have lots of exciting adventures too. He ... read more

Dear readers, Since leaving London behind on Tuesday eve (thanks for the send off, Mexicans (that's predictive text-speak for Newham, don't you know)) I have spent a relaxing time composing, sleeping and swimming in the sea. The sea bit was surprisingly not cold - although I had been for a run immediately before. So life is pretty good at the moment. I have not enjoyed the cricket as much as I thought I would, but that's no surprise... Tomorrow I'll be tested, as I'm returning to spend the day in sunny Croydon for some singing, but back to the serenity of Aldeburgh in the eve. Croydon does have a serenity of its own, however, but it's a very special one. It's quite early to generalise, but so far I'm not missing being a therapist, or living ... read more
