I am still happily living with my partner Wayne in Nounsley (Essex). We have enjoyed using Wayne’s boat a RIB and have undergone some training in boat handling. We both are instructors and on the committee for our local SCUBA club which takes up a lot of our ‘spare time’. We try to spend time each weekend with our family and debate the world with our parents, Lee (Wayne’s brother) and Mindy, torment Wayne’s nephews Lewis and Adam, and have enjoyed playing with Alicia as she gets bigger (and bolder). We love to see Claire (my sister) and David when we can with their lovely son Joshua who is turning into a fine young boy and clearly not a baby anymore. We started the year in a cultural manner, having great fun putting on our kilts ... read more

For Wayne’s birthday I booked us a trip to Rome. We flew with Ryan Air from Stansted to Rome Ciampino Airport. The flight was just over 2 hours and went smoothly. We arrived in Rome late Friday morning, checked into our hotel and changed before heading out for some lunch and over to the Colosseum. We had a lovely meal of pasta and pizza. We had miscalculated the location of our hotel so ended up in the wrong part of Rome so grabbed a Taxi to the Colosseum. We booked onto a group tour and waited for a few minutes before it started. Our guide was very good, spoke good English and was very knowledgeable. The Colosseum was inspiring, a magnificent building. After our tour we joined another tour at 4pm of the Roman Forum. For Wayne's 40th Birthday we took a few days off work together. I had got Wayne a trial flight from Earls Colne. We flew all over Essex, past my office, over our house, out to Bradwell and along the coast turning down the Stour to Manningtree. Wayne flew a lot of the way, and really enjoyed himself - enough that he is thinking of taking up lessons. On Saturday we continued our adventure in Ashford, Kent at Landrover Experience. We both drove around the off road track in the Range Rover Sport. It was scary but great fun. We're going to Milton Keynes later on to do it again!... read more

This year we headed to the Isles of Scilly in June. Wayne and I left home early on Friday morning, stopping for breakfast en-route. We visited Lauceston, Romstormel and St Mawes Castles in Cornwall before getting to our B and B in Penzance. The Scillonion the following day was fairly busy, but the crossing was calm and trouble free. We arrived in the Islands and found our house, over the hill and far away - well about 15 minutes from the harbour. We stayed at Gunners Flat with Clem and Tony. It was a great 3 bed flat with good sized living space. The four of us got on well, and had lots of fun times. Wayne and I decided that rather than solely diving this year we would take a couple of days out to ... read more

A group of 4 bikes and a mini rode/drove to the Isle of Wight on Friday morning to spend the bank holiday weekend on the island. We drove all over the island, taking in the beautiful views, riding the chair lift to the beach, visiting the bike and car shows and generally having a laugh. It was tiring but great fun. Suzanne and Jan both went Pillion with Wayne and Chris all around the island. I managed to keep up with the boys most of the time, and my new bike rode really well. ... read more

Hazel a friend of Wayne's invited me to join her on her hen do. A group of girls headed to town to see Mamma Mia, have cocktails and a lovely dinner. It was a fantastic day out, we drank lots and had a good laugh. It was lovely to meet such a nice, friendly group of girls. A couple of weeks later it was the wedding. We had booked to stay the night, which was brilliant. We checked in, had lunch, changed and headed to the church. The ceremony was very moving, Hazel looked beautiful and Andy couldn't stop smiling. The sun shone for the photos. The reception and dinner were at the hotel, lots of drink and food and laugher. We had a great table of people who all got on really well. The band ... read more

April 6th 2009

My birthday itself was a lovely sunny day, lunch at the pub with the guys from work was good fun, however perhaps I should have eaten less. Wayne took me out to dinner and I struggled to eat all my food. Still it was a lovely evening at the Waterfront. The best birthday treat was at the weekend. Wayne took me via Eurostar to Paris. It was brilliant, the train was a great way to travel, our hotel was fabulous. We walked our feet raw looking at all the sights. Had dinner at the Moulin Rouge which was amazing. Despite the cost of food and drink in Paris (a pint and a half was £13 in one bar!)we both had a lovely time. A once in a lifetime trip that I thoroughly enjoyed - Thank you ... read more

We had our last 3 nights at a luxury spa resort in the town of Patong. Our days were spent by the swimming pool in the shade relaxing, at night we hit the town. Madness met us. Lots of people selling stuff, Lady Boys, gogo shows everywhere. We explored a bit before hiding back in our hotel. We visitied the tailor where I had a dress and some shirts made up. Very interesting experience. We had a 3 hour spa treatment, which involved sitting in a milky jucuzzi, being covered in goo, massage and facial. It was an unusual but fairly relaxing experience. It was a great bit of indulgence before we headed home on a long flight - not forgetting the trolley dash between flights at Bangkok airport. Home again exhausted but happy!... read more

After a bit of uncertainty we were picked up by Island Hoppers and headed to the boat. We started off on a sandy island in the sun, where we snorkled and got sunburn. We then headed on to Yao Yao where we were stopping for the night. Beautiful white beaches, sea canoe and snorkelling were on offer and we had it to ourselves for a bit! We stayed in a hut which was ok despite the double bed! We toured the island visiting the village, seeing the Thai boxing stadium, monkey's working at coconut collection and rubber plantation. The next day in the afternoon we moved on to Phi Phi, we stopped at another island of sun and sand where we paid to sit in the shade until moving on, I snorkelled off the boat for ... read more
