It is never fun to return from a fun trip, but that is what we had to start doing this day. We had decided to split up the return trip and spend a day in Frankfurt. We awoke at 6am and prepared our luggage. After checking out of the hotel, we caught a taxi to Budapest airport. It took about 20 minutes to get there. We checked in for Lufthansa 1335 to Frankfurt and went to the gate to wait. We had a quick breakfast snack in order to burn our last Hungarian Forints. At 9:25am, we were on board the Airbus 319 and I was in seat 9F. It was a quick and smooth flight to Frankfurt, in which we were served some fresh fruit and drinks. When we arrived at Frankfurt, we ate some ... read more

In my research I have read that the best parts of Frankfurt are not in the city centre but rather in the surrounding neighbourhoods. This is interesting considering that most of the time the action occurs right in the middle of the city. On this day I want to explore the hustle and bustle of the "outskirts" of Frankfurt. Sachsenhausen-this is apparently a very happening neighbourhood with many shops, cafes, pubs and mansions. I think it will be interesting to encounter a residential neighbourhood that also exists as a popular tourist area. I also think this will be a good opportunity to directly connect to the locals and taste local food. Cathedral of St. Bartholomew- A free tour located in Frankfurt of a beautful structure. I am mesmerized by the architecture involved in old Churches. I ... read more

On this day we will begin our tour of Frankfurt. Much like Berlin, Frankfurt has lots of history to explore and therefore many attractions to view. On the list of things to do today: Frankfurt Main Tower: It is one of the highest buildings in Frankfurt at 200metres. One is able to walk or take an elevator up to the top and have a complete view of Frankfurt. Although I am slightly afraid of heights I feel like this is perfect to conquer that fear and I figure I am in Frankfurt I may never get this opportunity again! I mean that's what traveling is all about; doing things you wouldn't normally do. (4.6 Euros) The English Theatre- the play "Rain Man" will be showing at this theatre at night. It is in English so language ... read more

und hier meine Ankunft direkt am Ausgang. Ich war so erfreut, daß neben meiner Familie und Schwager Andre, auch Kai, Daniel und Happy mich in Empfang genommen haben. Danke nochmal an Euch alle. Nach ca. 35 Std. Rückreise war ich da doch etwas überfordert, aber gefreut habe ich mich riesig.... read more

Why Hello All! Ok, well, first there is a correction to where it says the blog is coming from. Unfortunately, I guess Münster is too small to register on the blog site, so I am not actually in Frankfurt, but Münster is about a half-an-hour or so away. First I must say that while it is faster, we really must stop calling them “the triplets.” “Triplets” implies three siblings born at the same time, these kids appear to be all different ages! Oliver is the oldest by two minutes and also the biggest. He is nearly as tall as Iris and his voice is even pretty deep already. Suspected actual age: 14. Sabrina actually looks her age, which is three months short of 13. She is into everything; swimming, horseback riding, dancing, art, violin, school, plus ... read more

The next few nights I was Couch Surfing! Couchsurfing.org is an online network for travelers to connect with other travelers in countries around the globe. Here individuals offer to host travelers on their couch or a night or two at no charge. It is a great way to meet local people when you travel and also as a host, it is a fun opportunity to meet with people from other countries. I had once hosted an Australian musician on my couch, but this is my first time staying on someone else’s couch. After spending a night in the 5 Elements Hostel, I set out to meet Solveig who I had been in contact with on Couch Surfing. We had planned to meet a “Small Tower” outside of Bockenheimer Warte, which is a station near her house. ... read more

On Saturday I took the 9-hour, direct Condor flight from Anchorage to Frankfurt. The flight was long, but I brought a book, a newspaper and a magazine to keep me company. None of this came anywhere close to being as interesting as my neighbor Sam, from London. He and about 10 other friends purchased an old Navy bus off of ebay for $2,000 and spent the last 6 weeks driving it from New York City to Nashville, New Orleans, the Grand Canyon, California, up through Canada and on to Anchorage, stopping everywhere in between. He shared his pictures from the adventure and had fabulous stories. he definitely got me motivated for the journey and the unknown adventures ahead. Once I arrived in Frankfurt, I took the S-Bhan (commuter train) from the airport to the Houptbahnhof (Main ... read more

Woke up to a grey and rainy day, however by 9 o’clock it was done and the sun was starting to shine. Since the museums don’t open until 10 (with a select few at 9) I decided to go to the Kinder (Children’s) Museum since it was a bit farther away and by the time I walked there it should be open. On the map I just follow the main road as it curves and it should be on my left just before the Hauptwache underground station. It wasn’t there. I criss-crossed all over the area that has the Museum symbol according to my map…nada. I did however find a very interesting mall. It was the building that first drew me in that direction. See the pictures!! The glass seems like it is being pulled into ... read more

Arrived safely in Frankfurt!! The plane was HOT!! That was the first thing you noticed when you got on. It got a bit better during the flight, luckily. I was fortunate that the seat beside me was not occupied so I had a place to store the blanket and pillow. The lady who had the seat one over from mine also took that seat over. I don't know what she did but she was pulled over by security guards and was the last one on the plane. Dinner was good and I did manage to get a few hours of sleep. Between that and a few movies the flight wasn't too bad. The touchdown was the smothest I have ever had!! The taxi down the runway to where they let us off however was really bumpy...planes ... read more
