Giant Euro
Because who doesn't love a giant Euro with stars? Woke up to a grey and rainy day, however by 9 o’clock it was done and the sun was starting to shine. Since the museums don’t open until 10 (with a select few at 9) I decided to go to the Kinder (Children’s) Museum since it was a bit farther away and by the time I walked there it should be open. On the map I just follow the main road as it curves and it should be on my left just before the Hauptwache underground station. It wasn’t there. I criss-crossed all over the area that has the Museum symbol according to my map…nada. I did however find a very interesting mall. It was the building that first drew me in that direction. See the pictures!! The glass seems like it is being pulled into a vortex and it has a column that comes down in the middle of the mall. If you go to the top the glass is all wavy like a ripple of water. It was very nice! The mall had a Claire’s, I think of Claire’s and Ardene’s being a place where you can get fairly cheap jewelry. Not in Germany, it was pretty expensive €9,95
Fountain
A random fountain that I found on my way to find the museum. for a necklace, and no buying 2 for €10 deals. The mall also had a huge Saturn (electronics store) it took up the entire third floor and half of the fourth. Does anybody know if I buy a bluray disc over here if it will work in Canada? I found my movie (KeinOhrHasen) which I have been waiting over 3 years to finish, but there is no point in buying it if I won’t be able to watch it! I have not been able to find a Tegut! (A grocery store that was really good). However there is the REWE grocery store which has been alright. There is one near the hostel which is good but doesn’t have good fruit. I went to the REWE in the mall for lunch. SO GOOD!! I am not entirely sure what a Frikedelle is but it is very yummy especially with senf (mustard). After lunch I decided that I would walk down one more street to see if I could find the museum and if not then I would go back towards the Hostel and do the museums there. Guess what I found on the next street…not the Museum but a huge bookstore.
Old Building
Perhaps of some signifigance but I don't know. I went in there and it was very nice, they had a café at the bottom and on every floor there were red couches where people could sit and read. I found quite a few books that looked interesting (they were in German though so I am not entirely sure what they are about but from what I could glean they sounded interesting). It is also interesting to see the different titles and covers of books that I know. The Hunger Game series has 3 covers over here, two are called the Hunger Games but one set is called The Tribute from Panam. I finally found the English section, it was hiding away in a corner. The next Cherub book is out!! I was tempted for a moment but it was hardcover so I will wait for a bit. While I was at the bookstore I figured that I would have a look at a real map (as opposed to the free copy from the Hostel that I have been using up until now). I located the Kinder Museum of a new map of Frankfurt and it was two streets over from where it was on my map. So I

I am not really sure what this was for but there were some interesting displays. went back out and over two streets. I still didn’t find it. So I decided to walk back towards the hostel, I stopped by the river for a little while and watched the birds and people rowing along the river. Apparently there is a train that runs through the “park” but I have yet to see it. If tomorrow is nice I think that I will relax in the Park in the afternoon and see if I can find it! However the clouds are rolling in this evening so I am not sure what tomorrow will be like!

There is a indeed a map of the regional public transport network on the ground. The lookout towers mark the locations of sights/attractions. Promoting both, the sights/attractions and the use of public transport to get there. The statue is the Gutenberg memorial put up in 1840 to celebrate the invention of the book printing technology. Besides Gutenberg himself there are 2 more persons shown which played a big role in establishing book printing.
