Never had I been killed nearly a thousand times trying to cross the street! Ok, slight exaggeration. Arequipa is the capital of crazy drivers who really don´t care about pedestrians. Cross at your own Risk! Today, I ventured off to go see the Museo Recoleta, only about a 15 min walk from where i´m staying, but it proved to be a tough venture. Not only are the sidewalks tiney, they are crowded, omni´s zoom past whiz within inches of you and taxi´s look like lil worker ants trying to get to their queen ant. Getting to the museum was pretty [View Full Entry]

Tomorrow, Sat, Jan. 24, I´l be on my way to NAZCA. By bus, CRUZ DEL SUR, it´ll take 6 hours. Crazy how far places can be! I´ll also have to wake up super early, bleh! Today, Carri, her boyfriend Luca and I went to another museum. The Museum of Anthroplogy, famed for it´s original pieces. I had never seen so much pottery in my life! Pottery that was ancient but looked new and in mint condition. Several pieces dating more than 2,000 yrs old and in front of my very own eyes! They even had several ear plugs, for stretched [View Full Entry]

6 days in Miraflores South America » Peru » Lima
I can´t believe i´ve been 6 days in a city. When cities are mentioned, I usually cringe. Well, here I am, still in the city after 6 days. No regrets whatsoever. I´ve done and seen so much in the past few days that the time here has been worthwhile. With my non'existent naviagtional skills, I know miraflores like the palm of my hand. It was sad to say goodbye to my friend Inez last night. She¨s off with her friends to visit beaches up in Ecuador. So this morning I ate by myself...no Inez to make fun of my ¨old¨ [View Full Entry]

Pachacamac South America » Peru » Lima » Lima
Pachacamac - meaning ¨he who created land and time¨: A major city that saw four distinct cultures 1)Lima Culture - the oldest, 2,000 yrs ago 2) Wari 3)Ychsma and lastly the 4) Inca 600 yrs ago. This was the biggest city to survive due to it´s conivenient location. Eventhough desert surronds it, a nearby river and ocean produced plenty of food and water for it´s inhabitants. The city at some point housed a ¨Nunery¨ of about 200 women that were picked for their pureness (virginity) and beauty so as to at some point serve as Wives for the elite or to [View Full Entry]

Museo Nacional -Peru South America » Peru » Lima » Lima » Miraflores
Met two a cool couple over breakfast, Cari and her boyfriend, whose name i can´t remember. They had been traveling now for 4 months and were going to be staying in peru for a bout a month then heading down south. Before I knew it, Cari, her bf, Roger from England, Inez and I were catching a bus to go take a look at the famed Museo Nacional. We payed 15 soles for a guided tour and it was the best money well spent by the group. The guide was so informative , funny and answered every question we had. [View Full Entry]

Didn't wake up until 9:30...by 10:45am i was having my continetal breakfast of bread and marmalde that tasted like tamarindo. Sitting by myself and think to myself, i thought again, what am i doing? Hmm. Quickly tried to erase those thoughts and made myself get out of my mood and go take a much needed shower bc it's sweltering hot down here. I grabbed my stuff and took onto the road. Not knowing where i was going, i decided to stop at the first bank to exchange money. the exchange rate was horrible...from now on i´ll shop around for better [View Full Entry]

Centro Lima South America » Peru » Lima » Lima
It seems as though every morning most of my dorm wakes up at the same time, 9:00 am. Had breakfast with my new Argentianian friend, Inez. Today we were set on going to the Center of Lima....ohhh, something they say is unsafe and dangerous. With confidence, we got on the omnibus that´s packed with people. At 1 sole y 20, it´s a bargain! It stopped every two min to jam pack the tiney bus. A girl from Englad, who was on the same bus and did not speak a word of spanish, looked terified. So Inez and I told her [View Full Entry]
