When you dream and dream of one day traveling...you keep hoping that one day you just might take the plunge. Well, after 5 years of daydreaming, I finally made it my reality. I got the guts to travel 7 months alone and the rest of the time with my boyfriend. A year and a half later, my travels took me to most of south america, St. Paul island alaska, Malaysia, Borneo, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Germany.

3am and I wake up to the screaming sounds of a woman in distress, running down the stairs -¨Someone Help me. Help me please. Help me, please, Someone¨. All screaming sounds were in Spanish. -¨Daniella, What is wrong? Listen to me. Stop it¨. How did we end up here, of course the birding brought us here without really meaning to. The surrounding area did not have a caravan park for us to camp, at least we never inquired. The lonelyplanet and stephan/s guide book mentioned this place. So we payed, got our room and let's say, it was heck of a whirlwind experience. This place is old meets new. A style like no other and people like no other. ECCLECTIC, STrangely fascinating, intriguing, full of intellect, art, artists, punk, maybe my words won't do our experience here justice an my words can.t quit describe it. Safari a la rancherita way in SOUTH AFRICA: so far it's been great. Lots of driving, I even thought at some point that it was a mistake to be travelling via your own car. We weren.t meeting locals. Always just him and I on the rode, in our littele rented grey HYNDAI ATOS. I didn't know if the locals were nice, mean, what they sounded like or anything. I'm a people person and I wanted to know the local flavor. But soon, it was evident that we would be talking to everyone. WE had no campstove, no cutlery, no pots nor pans. The days, the months have surely flown by...as I grip the seat of my pantalones, memories flash and I´m left with a smile on my face. Not all is good, not all is bad..just simply living...with everday routines, to having days of excitement, to boring days, I still brush my teeth everyday like back home, I still eat my cookies, but maybe I do it all in a diff setting each time. My days are not always full of excitement...as you probably would think...and not always are my beds that comfortable...some are saggy beds, some are hard as a board, and the pillows, hmm, I guess i wont go there..lumpy, or too huge (the size of couch pillows) and sometimes just right. So, I haven´t been updating this thing and I had forgotten about my visit to the Pantanal Brazil...so here goes a blurb on that. I had been on the road by myself for a while..meaning I had left behin Kat back in El Calafate Argentina...I went back to South Chile...got sick...got better...hung out with Piero and his family for a while....flew back up to Santiago CHile...visited Adrian´s Parents..then meanered my way from West ARgentina (Mendoza) all the way to Buenos Aires..where I ended up being suckered into staying for a month...After that month Kat and I decided to meet up again and travel together. Well, the pants that I thought would hold up for a year of everyday usage finally succumbed to falling apart. About two days ago, I noticed my first whole...just near my crotch..great. Ill try to mend them , lets see if a lil stitching can hold them up for a lil while more. I´m here in Mindo, Ecuador, taking it easy while the birders head out looking for their lil precious creatures. The last two days, I have woken up at around 9ish, go grab breakfast and then come and plop my behind in front of the computer...hey, i´m on holiday...I need a lil break from the cute lil birdies. ´Hmm...it´s kinda of funny being with two bird nerds because MINDO, which is supposed to be prime spot for birding, has now turned into a ... read more

ok, so this didnt work last time...ill try once again..im telling you though, internet connection sucks around these parts... So I thionk it worked this time. Well, as an update the runms have finally cleared...yay me. I have been trying to take it easy but traveling with two avid birders is not an easy thing..I really don´t like waking up early and for birding one needs to wake up at insame hours like 4:30am...shish, I never even woke up that early for work! But hey, I guess all in the name of seeing cool places and cool birds, why the heck not? Hmm..other tahn birding...we´ve been traveling off the beaten track here in Ecuador...the crappiest place we stayed in was in an obscure ¨hostal¨ in VIOLADID...close to the border of Peru...we arrived late to the small ... read more
