We have now finished work and are filling our days with not-a-lot! It is SOOOOOO hot here - over 35degrees - that just moving is a bit of a struggle. Before we left work we had to do a last minute visa run to the Cambodian border. Even this short journey into Cambodia was a bit of an eyeopener. It is such a poor country - especially in comparison to it's wealthier neighbour, Thailand - and as soon as we left Thai soil the cars were replaced by wooden carts piled high with rice and fabric and pulled by jaded looking people. After a very long day spent mainly on buses, it was a relief to meet up with Jim again having returned from his trip south looking far less sickly than when he left us! ... read more

The Ginza line to Shibuya was a little more crowded than the subways we had ridden thus far, but we still havent experienced the massive crowding Tokyo’s subway system is famous for. We then headed for the world’s busiest intersection in the heart of the Shibya. Across the street was a record store (the second floor of which is the starbucks from Lost in Translation). We listened to some Japanese music, even found a couple of bands we like (note to self: checkout Wolf & Cub), and tried to get some good pictures from the view at the starbucks, but it was too crowded. We checked out some of the shops in the area: The Gap, DG, and an electronics store. The Gap was pretty much the same, they are promoting some new look that looks ... read more

Everyone woke up around 7 today, feeling refreshed. We hung around our rooms for a few hours then went outside to view the Hotel’s Japanese Garden. The Garden was absolutely massive, and so well isolated that you forget you are in Tokyo for a while. We found a café in Akasaka with a very reasonable breakfast menu - about 5 bucks for European style coffee, salad, bread and an egg. Skies were a bit overcast at this point and we were worried about rain, so we checked shops for umbrellas. By the time we found some the skies had cleared up and we decided to head for Shibuya. ... read more

So we shall not attempt it. suffice to say that we came back completely refreshed and rejuvenated. Enjoy some glimpses !... read more

As I will study in the MBA program of Sun Yat-Sen University, I have been today with my new friends from HEC Montreal, EM Lyon and Negocia Paris to Lingnan College for choosing our courses. We put the morning to make our choice and then, we had lunch in a small restaurant in the street that we call a “buibui”… I don’t know why we call such restaurant like that in fact… but it is a “buibui”! We had a nice lunch and at 11 persons, we had to pay only about 5.5 euros! So 0.5 euro per person! Waou! That’s why, in brackets, I will eat in restaurant everyday . After eating, Williams - a French student from HEC Montreal who is in Guangzhou since a month - drove us to a fake market. This ... read more
