For anyone who is planning to go trekking on the Annapurna Circuit: as from October 2011 10 mountianbikes will be waiting for you in Muktinath - the first village after the famous Thorung La Pass !
Together with my friend Tenzing, we are starting this project, hoping to contribute to a more sustainable tourism in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The idea is quite simple : instead of traveling back to the city by an expensive airplane, or a 'shocking' jeep / bus ride, you can now do it at your own pace, by bike. Stop whenever you want, enjoy the beautiful Kali Gandaki valley - just by cycling on the road! As easy as it gets.
Practically: we provide the mountainbike with helmet, repair kit and a convenient small rucksack for your basics. We will bring your backpack to a place of your choice, where you can drop off the bike.
Info: Muktinath - Beni is best done in 3 days - if you're in a hurry you can make it in 2, however. For Pokhara you should count 4-5 days.
Contact details will follow - I'm leaving for Kathmandu next week, but don't have a mobile number yet. Just ask around in Kathmandu, Pokhara, or on the Circuit Trek itself for: Jomsom Bike Rental. You can mail me for more info at <snip>
