Hi guys, I just want to share to you our vacation this past weekend. 0800 in the morning, we depart from our house to the domestic airport to catch our 1030 flight to Kalibo via Cebu Pacific. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed for a long 1 hour. After an endless hide and seek game with my daughter (and countless numbers of cigars ....) we departed Manila at 1140...we then arrived Kalibo airport at 1210. Here, we managed to catch the shuttle van from the airport to the jetty port of Caticlan which is by the way a loooonnnngggg 2 hour ride. Fortunately for us, we managed to get a fifty peso discount ($1.00) per pax, which is great (I think my knowledge of the local dialect proved to be very handy on this trip..). Upon reaching ... read more

Jason and I separated from his parents in Malaysia, setting off to see the Philippines on our own, and allowing them to see Thailand and Vietnam. We were so excited to arrive in the Filipino capital of Manila and meet up with Jason's cousins; Brando and Nina. The night we arrived, we celebrated Brando's birthday. Seeing how they both own a very successful catering company, we were able to try a myriad of delicious Filipino cuisine which was oh so very good. And whoever knows me, knows how much I LOVE chocolate, so I was over-thrilled when I saw the chocolate fountain for dessert that night. After being completely pampered in Manila by Brando and Nina, and seeing all the sites, Jason and I bought our plane tickets to what we thought was the island of ... read more

It's a shame to say that this is my first time to set foot in the island of Boracay, or maybe not. I've never really dreamed of coming here 'coz it is usually flocked with tourists and people from the city. Boracay has become one of the ultimate tourist and party destination especially at the hype of summer and every concievable holiday in my country (and yes, our President likes giving out holidays). However, I was going to Iloilo to join the Dinagyang Festival so my mates and I decided to make a quick stop at this much raved about beach haven. I should say, I was pretty excited to go to Boracay for the mere fact that I'm finally seeing it and disappointed I was not. Although I think I've seen better beaches, the ambience ... read more

boracay is simply the best when it comes to sands... beach.. sun... i was there 12th of February, in time for valentine season, but then no lovers caught my sight, most of the crowd were foreign vacationists... you can tour the whole beach in a day, but that without a rest, just like we did... my disappointment is that i havent got the chance to savour the loveliness of the beach and the pureness of the sand cause we only have a day for this place... i promised myself to be back here for a week's vacation... there are three stations in the beach... those in station 1 (the sand) were whiter compared to station 3 and 2, maybe because station 3 is more commercialized and is more crowded and as station 2 is close to ... read more

Boracay It was hard to leave Manila. I had tried once and already missed a flight and seriously considered missing another. I had met some good people at the hostel and had fallen into a routine of relaxing days and relaxing nights - but I had not come for this and finally dragged myself to the domestic airport bound for the raucous resort of Boracay via Caticlan. There is no airport on the small island of Boracay (9km long and 1km wide) and to get there you must use a pump boat from Caticlan on the island of Panay. Once on the island I used one of the motorbike taxis to haul my rucksack and myself to the ‘back packer’ style accommodation (bamboo huts). For 700 pesos I got a large room with two double ... read more

Recently had a fun and relaxing trip to the island of Boracay . Toni, Celest and I left for Kalibo the afternoon of Nov 3rd (LJ missed the flight) and got to the island dinner time (around 8ish in the pm). Met Greg there, had buffet dinner, night swimming and a few drinks after. We crashed at Greg's room for a couple of nights... He had two big beds and we were just too happy to join him. Free loaders! Next morning, we met Greg's friend Scott, had breakfast at this refreshing place called Lemon Cafe' then all headed to Fairways and Bluewaters for some more R & R. Went to Jona's for their famous shakes just before sundown.Ohhh we hadsome great shots of the sunset too! LJ arrived just before dinner and night out, while ... read more

After taking a shower in the evening, I could here Elaine’s voice out on the verandah, but she wasn’t talking to tita Vivienne or Nikki. When I opened the door I was surprised to see the 2 Russian guys from the other room - Artur and Staz. They were saying that 2 planes full of Russians arrived for Boracay because they were celebrating “The Old New Year”? Is that right Elaine? Well they were celebrating something. While tita Vivienne went for a massage, Elaine, Nikki and I headed to D’Mall. While they ate at Crepes St Michel, I went around looking for a necklace to match my dress. I was out for something specific, so it was very hard to decide. After no decision was made, I went back to them just as they were getting ... read more

I just had one of the best weekends in my life - and it was at the beach! I’m not a very beach person, in Australia it only takes 10-15 minutes to get to the beach, but I can count how many times I’ve been to the beaches there on my hands. But then again, when you get to this place, HOW can you NOT enjoy yourself? You are surrounded with the whitest sand (or should I say powder) you will ever see, beautiful clear waters, great food, shopping, fruit shakes, and friendly people! This is BORACAY… Departure date was January 12, and I waited outside the village with Mel to get picked-up by Elaine. The trip was only for 3 days, and with us was her tita Vivienne, and cousin Nikki from LA. The day ... read more

We’ve settled into a groove here and as of yesterday have purchased a beachfront bungalow with a few mopeds, opened a joint called the Sand Bar, enrolled in Filipino language class, and have been taking our catamaran out to sea every morning to fish for our lunch. Okay, well at least the last one is true but the rest of it also becomes such a tempting possibility when you’ve spent a week on Boracay. It’s the type of place where a two day visit can easily turn into two weeks or even two months. The highlight here is “White Beach” a two mile stretch of postcard perfect palm fringed beachfront with the finest powdery white sand I have ever walked on. The clear blue green waters here are perfectly warm and I’ve already spent many hours ... read more
