I made it (Day 1)The beach here is pretty amazing. The water is a nice emerald green color. Or maybe it's turqoise. I took an overnight ferry to Boracay from Manila. I was a little late leaving for the airport, but was able to flag down a taxi after 10 or so minutes. The driver was really nice. He took a shortcut because the traffic was really bad. We made it to the ferry terminal in plenty of time. The guards talked to me and asked the driver to pop the trunk. Later I learned that a bomb blew up a ferry in Manila harbor a year or so ago. I got through the ticketing area, managing to fight off people trying to push ahead and break in line. They took my photo and I walked ... read more

Travis has arrived...... And it is just as I suspected. I was an idiot not to rest up before he got here. I knew that would bite me in the ass. How strange of an experience it is to be a "regular" in a foreign place. Having been on the island of Boracay for at least a few days now...a good week not including the break we had in the Northern part of the country....I am now, of course, and expert. I know where to go to have the best mango banana shake, the bets place to see the view of the whole island, the best place to catch live music (Bom Bom...without a shadow of a doubt), and the best place to have the islands famous Barbecued hot dogs on a stick (thanks all to ... read more

It has been 4 days now in Boracay. Small impressions include tiny ants (bed bugs) on my bed and all over my clothes, bits of seashells and coral along the fine, smooth, white sand shoreline, bowl of "goto", Filipino congee, along with the chicken (or duck) egg and black yoke (incidentally, in case you were wondering, yes the black yoke is a half formed fetus...yum yum), "turo turo"s along the "road" with quiet, kind, eager Filipionos awaiting late night white curious customers, sausage on a stick sliced and diced in a floral pattern coated in a sweet tangy spice BBQ sauce, soaking wet bathroom floors and toilet seats, dive bombing beach birds, aquamarine water, wet glossy black igneous rock, "yes ma'ams" and "lunch ma'ams" and "sarongs, pretty necklaces, massage ma'ams", Celine Dion, Tracey Chapman, Bob Marley (of ... read more

I got burned today. Oops. I feel sleep on the beach and my face is a little burned - I apparently forgot to put sunblock on my face. I fell asleep on my back too so my back is a bit darker than my front. So yesterday we had dinner at aria which is an intalian restaurant just a few steps down from our hotel. We had dinner on the beach - it was nice. We sat at the table closest to the ocean and it was low to the ground so we sat on pillows. I had thier penne pesto, delish! Louie, my neice had thier 4 cheese pizza which was so good it was backed on a really thin crust. After dinner we took a walk down the beach to work off some of ... read more

So we made it to Boracay in one peice. The flight was only about 35 minutes from Manila to Caticlan. When we arrived it was pouring but luckly it was just a cloud burst. It was funny becuase when we were landing it was so close to all these huts and cows that I was sure we were going to hit them on our way in. From there we had to go to the Caticlan port to take a "ferry" to Boracay. We met up with Tita Cynthia (Tita Cyn) and Tito Periquit there. It's been so long since we have seen them. They send thier well wishes! I say "ferry" because it is a wasn't like the ferrys in the states but an "old school" ferry - It's hard to explain but I took pictures ... read more

Talcum-fine white sands, crystal-clear calm waters, the culture, the people - these are just few reasons why I can't get enough of this paradise called Boracay. Enthralled by my first Boracay getaway same time last year, I told myself that I would definitely go back. Since, it’s another long vacation with the proclamation of Oct31-Nov01 as Non-working holidays, we decided to experience the Boracay-fun again. This time, since I, like most of the people here in the country, am experiencing some cash problems, thought of some ways, so as not to deprive myself of my passion for traveling, and still enjoy Boracay, even if I’m on a budget. Thanks to the Strong Republic Nautical Highway, better known as RORO (roll-on roll-off), since this enhances travelers to go to tourist spots on an alternate route. Traveli... read more

I’m in the office eating my lunch when my celphone rang; it’s my cousin, inviting us to join them to Boracay with my balikbayan auntie. I was quite exited because this is my first time to go to Boracay but I’m also hesitant because we just been to Singapore and Malaysia four months ago and I don’t have enough money for another trip. But thanks to my parents and sister the money problem was settled. We booked on a 3 days 2 nights package tour for Php 6,200. Included in the package were hotel accommodation, plane tickets and free breakfast meal. Our flight to Boracay was 5:00 in the morning, we were the first among the group came to the domestic airport. Luckily after a few minutes of waiting my cousins finally came. We immediately checked ... read more

It was fun! Going to Boracay was a great experience. MV Navigation ferried us to the place, it was only an overnight trip with reasonable fare. The ship cannot go near Boracay beach because it has a shallow shore so another pumpboat will help transport visitors near the beach. Indeed, it has a very fine white sand, powder-like sand. Beautiful. We go island hopping, banana boat riding, barefoot walking to feel the sand massage our heel. The 4-day vacation was maximized at a very low cost with a pocket money of P5,000, good enough. ... read more
