Day 2 of the Panagbenga activities is the highlight of the Festival. The Float Parade was already starting when we finally found the perfect location for us. Giant floats designed with colorful flowers came by. I could not help but be amazed with these artistic masterpieces. Each float has a theme to boast, which is usually the commercial product/company that they represent, with some celebrities as their flag-bearers. Even the senatorial candidates from a political party also has its own float. Yes, they took advantage of the festival for their campaigning. Tsk tsk, Philippine politics. The parade ended at Burnham Park where the spectators had a time to take photos. We weren’t able to wait for the announcement of winners since we were all tired and hungry. A trip to Baguio will never be complete if ... read more

I’ve been visiting Baguio City since I was a kid, but never did I experience the event which made the city famous for - the Panagbenga Flower Festival. During the month of February, tourists from all parts of the country go up north, not just to feel the cold breeze of Baguio ambiance but also to witness the month-long colorful celebration. This year, I seized the chance to fulfill yet another entry in my travel wish list. Together with my office pals, we wrestled with the Friday’s night traffic, and dozed off the five -hour journey or so just to get to the City of Pines. At 2am, Saturday morning, just as some vendors were just wrapping the day off, we were already in Burnham Park, searching for a decent place to park. With nothing to ... read more

Everything was so unexpected. We have no plans yet of celebrating our honeymoon and my birthday until this travel opportunity came to us astonishingly. This was supposed to be a business trip for Jeric, but since I am about to celebrate my natal day, his bosses decided, without any hesitations, to also buy me a plane ticket for Cagayan de Oro. Thank you so much Maam Edith and Boss Tino, we will forever cherish this wondrous moment that you’ve unselfishly granted to us. Day 1 - September 16, 2006, Saturday We arrived at CDO airport at 730am. We were greeted by Jericho’s officemate, he then drove us to the city for a breakfast to a small “carinderia-ish “ restaurant which serves the best bulalo in town. Forgot the name though, my bad. Hehehe. After our quick ... read more

Of all the beautiful places that I have visited, Palawan is the place that is closest to my heart. The fresh breeze, the fine white sands of its beaches, the abundant marine life, and of course the warmth of the people - these are just but a few reasons why I couldn’t get enough of this wonderful place. This year, Culion, Jericho’s birthplace, is celebrating its Centennial Year. When we’ve learned that Nanay & Tita Malyn will be going home to join with the celebrations, we were ecstatic enough that I’ve immediately purchased our online Super Ferry tickets. We couldn’t afford to miss this momentous commemoration of the town’s founding year. Super Ferry has regular trips to Palawan every week. The ferry leaves at Manila on Friday, 8pm and arrives at Coron, Palawan after 12 hours. ... read more

Traveling has become my obsession. Whenever I have spare time, I always plan on going to places. If I only have enough resources and more vacation leaves, I would have wandered to all the places included in my travel wishlisht. It is holy week, this should have been the perfect time to have an out-of-town vacation. I should have been snorkeling in Palawan, or beachcombing in Boracay. But here I am, at home, trying to alleviate the boredom of staying inside the house for days. I need to go somewhere. Would I climb to Mt. Samat in Bataan, go swimming in the beaches in Olongapo, island-hop in Hundred Islands, Pangasinan? If I only have more funds to spend. Ahhh, this is torture! Wait, maybe I need not go further and shell out some cash. There are ... read more

Being the only Catholic nation in Asia, the Philippines observe the Lenten Season religiously. The eight-day celebration starting from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday is filled with spiritual and religious rites commemorating the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Visita Iglesia Every Maundy Thursday, the Visita Iglesia is being practiced by devote catholics. The traditional Visita Iglesia is said to be the commemoration of Jesus Christ’s journey through the streets of Jerusalem to the hill of Golgotha. Supposedly, as there are 14 Stations of the Cross, 14 churches should be visited. But as far as I can remember, we only visit 7 churches. This year, we visited the churches along our place in Pampanga - our Parish in Mexico, Sto. Domingo, San Jose, Chancery, Dolores, San Agustin, and lastly in St. Jude. As we go ... read more

6 o’clock, Saturday morning - I was haggling with my phone’s alarm for another hour of slumber. I could still feel the booze in my veins that I obtained from our usual Friday night-out. But the thought of where we will be spending the day perked up all the adrenalin in my body. Yes! My itchy-feet will be pleased today. This day trip was somewhat a short notice, which was actually perfect, because we knew that it would materialize, instead of the long planning which usually do not push through as always. When our Finance Manager forwarded an email last week regarding Grande Island’s Special Promo, we immediately convened to avail it. Besides, the Promo was a cheap deal - Php 500.00 inclusive of entrance fee, round-trip boat transfers, and a plated lunch. We didn’t even ... read more
