01.05.06(May already! only 4 months left! Can you believe we have been away for 8 months! Starting to feel it now!) Here we are again people. We are now in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, after a 2 and a half hour bus ride north from Melaka, which was ok. We were finally dropped off smack bang in the middle of this car horn noisy, exhaust fume filled, hectic, jam packed solid of a city. We, as always, had a rough idea of where our new 'home' was going to be for the next few days. The question was, as always, 'how do we get there?' We know we can get the taxis, but we like to think that using the public transport gives us more of a sense of achievement, lets us mingle ... read more

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur (KL) at 5 in the morning on the 26th and went straight to bed in a hostel recommended to us by our friend "Bob" on the island. They ushered us in and I was back to sleep before my head hit the pillow. When we finally rolled out of bed around 10am we wasted no time at all visiting the market in China Town (where we are also staying). This market is a combination of Ko San Road and the Chatuchak Markets, both in Bankok. A main street filled with stalls which are simply OVERFLOWING with all that is Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Coach, Roxy, Billabong, Puma, Nike and any other brand you can think of. It is all fake, made and Malaysia and cheap cheap cheap. THis place is an assault ... read more

It will seem to you that the only thing that I can do in this blog is to complain. Indulge me, please. Kuala Lumpur is a city of contradictions as almost any other city in the world. It has a very useful monorail, underground, comprehensive bus service, the second tallest sky-scrapper, the Petronas Towers, as Ade puts it the first monument of love to Petrol. So how is it possible that a city with such modern standards can lack in the most obvious city planning design? I mean Traffic lights where our friends the green man and the red man can show us the way to go. Crossing roads is a nightmare, today e.g. a high speed bus blaring its horn almost takes out around 10 pedestrians crossing the road, Why? very simple, if you ... read more

So we have been in Malaysia for about 5 days. Time flys when you are lost in a foreign country! Its hot and crazy, just the way I like it. Kuala Lumpur is an amazing city. If the people here operated on karma they should expect very good things to happen to them in the future. Everyone here has been so amazing. If people see that we are lost, they ask us what we are looking for. We have had one person drive us to the tourist office, we have had a cab driver give us his phone card for free when ours wasn't working. People seem so keen to help out one another. And they always seem happy! They smile and say hi to each other. They say sorry to each other at the drop ... read more

Chris had a massive cocnut last night, so is feeling a little nutty today! Breakfast was interesting, i had curry and rice with bbq sauce! hehehe, chris had cham and hot dogs again - strange boy! Set off on our exploration.... Booked bus ticked to go to melaka tomorrow - it was literally 5 minute walk and was really easy to book tickets. Then went back to tour agent and booked accommodation as we couldnt do it over the internet for some reason! HEaded off to the underground to go and explore, went to KL city centre and arrived ... read more

Last night we ventured to the night markets in Penang again, and had an enormous meal - ate some pizza for a change from rice, and chris had some indian tandoori chicken, chilli duck and beef satay! Greedy guts. I must say that i was disappointed with my pizza, the worlds biggest pizza fan may be no more! Made me feel really sick to be honest, maybe i have broadended my food horizons! Spent the rest of the evening looking for shorts for Luke (bro) - luke you will be glad to hear we managed to get you 2 pairs of billabong shorts and a billabong t-shirt (which chris quite fancies) for less than 10 pounds. hope you like them, will post off when we get to aus. Mum, got you cushions aswell they are really ... read more

So yeah, now that I've got a icket out of KL to head to Lumut (which I bought last night), I wake up this morning in agony! Ok sorry for the details, but you asked for them. In Goa about a week or so ago, I started this weird rash liek thing on the back of one of my legs, No biggie just small spots and not really itchy at all. It happened to me before when I was in Mexico, and I think it was from swallowing sea water and it left as soon as I left to go home. So I figured it was something like that or just some sort of sun rash or something. It kinda spread a bit last week but nothing to bad. Anyway, last night I noticed that it ... read more

Got back to Malaysia yesterday afternoon at around 1pm. I'm still staying around CHina Town in a different hostel. It's funny how that all the other countries I've been to, which I would expect of them more then KL, did not have bedbugs where I was staying. But for some reason both places I've stayed here had them. this one place more than the other. Las night before going to bed I saw a few crawling around one of the beds in my room and I said to myself: "Oh great! Here we go." Well i woke up this morning with about 6 or 7 of them crawling around the bed and as I started going on a killing spree, the blood was just ghushing outta them. funny how I can't seem to find the bite ... read more
