I am planning my trip to Tioman Island this August and would like to know about good snorkelling places which can be reached just swimming straight from the beach without necessity to rent a boat.
During my stay at Tioman I would like mainly to snorkel but also take a few dives and do some trekking. After thorough research I came to conclusion that the most suitable place for me to stay would be Air Batang (ABC) due to its central location allowing access to jungle trails to Juara and Salang, and due to some remarks about good snorkelling along the beach north off the ABC and on Panuba Beach, Monkey Beach, and Monkey Bay (but I am open to comments on this decision too). I do plan to take some snorkelling trips to places like Renggis and Tulai islands but these are too expensive to do it every day.
Could anybody please provide and detailed information about specific places to snorkel off the beach around Air Batang? Thanks.
Reply to this Hi Vaclav: sorry I also have a question for you, not really capable of answering your question. I'm also going to Malaysia and Indonesia hoping to snorkel. Are you bring your own equipment or is it viable to rent or buy things there?

Yes, I have read many times that snorkelling equipment can be rented at Tioman (and I am sure other islands will be no diffrerent). However, I am bringing my own mask and snorkel as rented equipment is often in bad shape.

i have stayed in ABC beach as well (if iam not mistaken it'sthe last stop for the ferry). If so , then it was a good place to stay, you have options of good guest houses, resturants and the place is just wonderful.
