After advice on the intinerary
16 years ago, March 22nd 2008 No: 1 Msg: #30541
Myself and my wife will be arriving in Ciang Mai on the 31st and have 4 weeks in asia. We mainly want to do thailand.
Hoping for sugestions on our itinerary. (we have been to Puhket and Bangkok before)
We were planing
6 days for Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
4 days laos -Vientiane - Vang Vieng and back to Vientiane
4 days Cambodia Angkor
4 days Bangkok.
6 days Koa Tao (include full Moon Party)
1.5 days Malaysia
(1) We want to do at least one trek. Overnight or maybe two nights. Where would be the best place to do this from.
(2) How should we split our time between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai?
(3) do we have time for laos or are we trying to do to much? should we spend more time in chiang Mai/ Chiang Rai
rather than trying to fit in laos is there something else we could do.
(4)any recomendations for accomodation would be good.

Thanks for all feedback Reply to this

i say, skip malaysia. i am not sure how much you can see in 36 hours. and since you have been to bangkok before, perhaps two or three of the four days can be spent elsewhere. why not include luang prabang in your laos itinerary and make it a week long trip? there is a direct flight between chiang mai/bangkok and luang prabang, and you can fly back to bangkok/chiang mai from vientiane. I arrive and depart from Malayasia so I have allowed 1 day to check it out.
I thought about Prabang but I understand it is a whole day to get from Prabang to Vang Vieng. As I have limited time I am trying not to waste too much time travelling.
For me Money is not the problem time is.
Maybe I could fly to Luang Prabang and then fly from Luang Prabang to Vientiane then from there i could bus it out to Veng Vieng and back.

How much time is needed in Chiang Mai / Chaiang Rai? Reply to this
